Yep. It's their wheat that's been dry hopped. Very tasty.

Getting pretty antsy for that. |

Just pouring my first of this Ale (2012 version) -- smooth, rich, un-sweet, slight hint nutty taste. I like beer that is not sweet at all, I don't usually go for Ale, but the store was out of anchor steam, so I grabbed this & the Humming Ale -- which I've never tried either. Guiness -- like, but much smoother of course, not a stout. I'd rank it my favorite ale :D |
The ****ers didn't get the SVP in today.
Got a sixer of 80 Acre instead. Not too bad. |
Anybody tailgating tomorrow have a sixer of something decent on hand and want to sell it to me? I did not get any today and I'd rather not be a mooch all morning.
|
|
Holy Hell, Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout was amazing. If you can find it, buy it.

Camping out? No.
I like Cantillon and all, but not enough to sleep outside in December. I'll show up a few hours early and if I get in, so be it. If not, I can always go home and drink lambics out of my own collection. One day maybe the hype train will die and we will revert to the days of Cantillons sitting dusty on the shelf for months at Gomer's. |

I figure there will be a few, but it won't be me. |
I've already got to have some Cantillon special stuff this year. If people want to camp out for some small pours of beer, that's fine.

Stouts will definitely expand your horizons. There are a lot of good ones out there right now. It's a dream to have the choices that we have here (at least in KC).
We opened a 2009 BCBS a couple of weeks ago and it was sooo mellow and delicious compared to the hot, boozy mess that is fresh BCBS. |

Trying the Modus Hoperandi tonight. Supposed to be a good bitter, odd to see good beer in cans. Will let you know...
|
Modus Hoperandi is one of my favorite, easy to obtain, session IPAs. Hoppy and delicious!
|
|
So nobody has tried the Bier Station?

Seeing as they posted today on Facebook looking for wood to help with the construction of the inside space, I'd say they haven't opened yet.
|
The blog post says mid-December. Kind of an odd location... hope it does well though.
|
Bourbon County Stout should make it to stores here Tomorrow.
In the mean time I have a sixer of Anchor christmas ale and a bottle of Sam Adams Merry Mischief to try |

Been waiting for SVP for over two weeks. |
Just got my hands on The Abyss by Deschutes. Looks like it could be interesting.
|
Quick question.
Is the Snowdrift Vanilla porter comparable to the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter? |

I don't drink beer too much, but for some reason I've been fiending to try SVP. Lucked out - my uncle found some in Wichita he's bringing up to Garnett for Thanksgiving. |

Just seems a little overpowering in the Breckenridge. |

As well as... • Samuel Adams Winter Lager • Exclusive - OC Black Diamond Cocoa Porter • Widmer Brrr • Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale • Stella Artois Belgian Lager • Odell Isolation Ale • Boulder Beer Never Summer Ale • Free State Winterfest • New Belgium Snow Day |

I tried the Boulder "Hoopla." Pretty good stuff. The Breckenridge Vanilla Porter was so-so. |
Guess I'm gonna have to pick up some-a-that Bourbon County Stout.
Gomers has Unibroue La Fin du Monde on sale. picked up a couple 4 packs. it's a good holiday beer. at 9% you don't have to drink many of them...leaving room for turkey http://www.charlietonic.com/wp-conte...n-du-monde.png[/QUOTE] |
La Fin du Monde is very tasty. Fine selection.
|
I've been drinking La Fin Du Monde for over a decade. One of my favorite beverages. You can't go wrong with any brew from that brewer.
|
Yep, Unibroue makes some darn fine beers. I have really started liking Trois Pistoles lately too.

Yum. |
Had some Zombie Dust by Three Floyds last night. Very tasty American Pale Ale. One of the best I've tried.

Yep, this was purchased straight from the brewery as well just a few days ago. Such a fantastic beer. Even the smell is just about perfect.

I can't decide if Citra or Simcoe are my favorite hop. ZD makes a very compelling case for Citra, but Surly Wet makes perhaps a slightly more compelling case for Simcoe. What's a beer lover to do? |

ZWANZE DAY!! Almost time to leave for the Foundry to get in line!
|
I am going to try Abyss stout from Oregon's Deschutes Brewery today and have more Samuel Smith's organic chocolate stout.
|
I'm going to go on a private tour with some friends at Harpoon Brewery here in Boston today.
Should be a long filled day of drinking beer. I'm sure I'll get to sample a lot of good stuff! |
Man, I'm really digging 80 Acre.
Tastes like mandarin oranges. |

But, it has made it into my five top beers. (which is still a small list, btw) |
Zwanze Day was awesome....it didn't sell out either so some Cantillon bottles made it out of the bar and came home with me.
They had raffles and a gentleman at my table won one of the drawings for a bottle of 1997 Rose De Gambrinus (complete with nudie striptease label). He was nice enough to open it and share; that stuff was gooooooood. |
drank a bunch of Gossamer Golden Ale - Half Acre Beer Company this weekend
not usually my style, but i've been worn out by ipas lately and this had just enough whiff of hops, and was crazy drinkable...or at least it was the perfect quaff while high |
Drank about a quart of Founders Creme Brule Breakfast Stout tailgating at Arrowhead Sunday. Stuff was delicious. How did I know it was a quart? Drank it out of a Mason jar. Followed that by a pint of Tank 7 and a growler of Nutcracker. I may have given FDE a little bit of my Nutcracker. Not much though because he turned up his nose.
|
also had schlafly dry hopped APA...again, delicious...my first schlafly beer

Heh. Definitely the Southern Tier. But I had it for Breakfast. |
Either is fine. Both of those are pretty darn good. Breakfast Stout especially. One of my favorites, for sure.
I saw that PeaceTree is coming to Kansas. Got any recommendations? I remember you saying something about them a while back; from the Knoxville area, I believe. |

For the IPA lovers: Double Jack IPA - by Firestone Brewing Company
It is ridiculously good. |

Anyone tried Red Hook? Hear Dan Patrick talking about it last week. |

Longhammer is OK. It's a decent gateway IPA, but there are far better IPAs around that are just as cheap.

Longhammers are really sweet, not a lot of balance. To each his own though; I certainly wouldn't turn one down.
