I'm not at all impressed with BT even for less than $20...
That port barrel aged Peppers sound like my next purchase but $50+ I hate dropping that on Whisky. $80 for bourbon is when you buy the bottle at a bar. About a round of shots. |

BTW, same reason I won't buy Casamigos tequila. **** George Clooney. |

I just got into drinking bourbon around Christmas time. I gave up drinking for a long time, used to drink way too much. So I’m just now getting back into the game. So I will slowly go through the list, and try them all. I do love BT though, I can get it for about $18 from the store I go to in Columbia, instead of $23 |
Haven't tried bourbon in years. Got too many single-malt bottles in my cabinet to get through first.

Eagle Rare is shit. 1783 ain’t bad, but it’s not good either. Agree to disagree I guess. I can’t ever find it here in ATL but in the $25 range I love Weller Antique I believe. |

Old Grand Dad is great. Stick to that and especially at that price! |
BT is a high teens bottle. Period.
When you add 50% more you get decent shit . Period. |

If you're buying alcohol for the taste and can't afford $5 more for a better bottle, you probably live with a roommate in Billay's neighborhood. |

So I was at a hotel bar in downtown Boston over the weekend. I expected to be paying a premium given how expensive Boston is. Instead, I was privy to some of the most bizarre pricing I’ve ever seen. I took a pic:
<blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/pyeQLjo"><a href="//imgur.com/a/pyeQLjo"></a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Blanton’s the same price as Maker’s? High West American Prairie more expensive than Whistlepig? |

I’ve been drinking Michters various options and Basil Hayden a lot more lately. And just buying stuff I have never had.
Blanton’s is my favorite of the stuff that is not terribly difficult to get your hands on. I’ve got some friends that get all the rarer Col Taylor’s and stuff that is hard to get. Not all, but most of those that cost over $100 a bottle I’d still take Blanton’s. |

How liberal was the pour?

Noticed a bottle of Weller 12 inside the case of a corner convenience store on Friday. Asked the guy how much and thought he said $49 and started to reach for my wallet and he said no, it's $249. LOL. No joke.

I really need to ramp up my bootleg game. I’ll have to make a list and run my cost plus postage one day.

My local Sam’s club has buffalo trace for $22 and Elijah Craig for $27. Picked up one of each. They had eagle rare for $30 but they were all gone
|
I bought Eagle Rare for $24 at my Sams
Got cheaper when I bought the full case and 2 |
Had this yesterday with my old man. Private Barrel pick from a local store. Regular shelf Blanton's is getting priced reeruned and this was $75.

getting ready to kill 1st of 12 bottles of Eagle Rare......
|
I havent seen a bottle of Eagle or BT or Blantons in my local state run liquor store in about 18 months...****ing state run liquor stores suck the peen.
I have learned to get some contacts within the system to know where the one or two cases of said bourbon gets distributed locally, but alas, I actually have a job and must work, so i cannot camp out at the one location that gets a few bottles, as opposed to the retired deginerate drunks that can. The last time I found any BT product was in Saint ****ing Louis...not even in Louisville Ky, home of Buffalo Trace, Saint ****ing Louis. To those casually shopping at costco and grabbing a few bottles, I tip my glass...I cannot hate, I would do the same. |
I think I paid 50 for blantons here in Springfield
It’s not easy to find but usually you can find it with some searching |
last time I saw a bottle of blantons, it was 60, here...at this point I'm finding single malts more economical...Macallan 12yr is 57

Lew I need a favor.
I need about 4-6 different bourbons for under $100. I’m needing to expand past my Buffalo |
Quote:
Old Forrester 100 proof Larceny Russell's Reserve Elijah Craig 4 Roses Single Barrel High West American Prairie Bourbon All of these can be had for less than $40 and pretty easy to find. |

I think if Eagle rare is affordable, go for it and you must try Bookers. Maybe the 30 year?
|
Blantans is always handy
|
For now I picked up Larceny and 4 Roses Single Barrel.
Seen Weller Antique and the Sazerac at the store so they will be next on the list. I have to admit I broke down and bought another bottle of Buffalo, I like it. I feel ashamed |

Here's mine. Can't remember if I've posted before. I think I'm around 55 bottles.
That includes the Duke. It's full of God knows what kind of bourbon and has never been opened. Pulled it out of a storage room at my grandma's house about 5 years ago |

https://balconesdistilling.com/spirits/ Looking forward. Seems they have Single Malt as well as Bourbon, so it's gonna be a little of everything. |

I am 3 drinks into the OLD Ezra and diet coke and think it's way better than the Evan but not ER. I will open a bottle of Eagle Rare and acid test it in a few minutes (30).
I think Old Ezra will win. Only my SO will know for sure. She loves the ER too. |
Splurged for a taste of pappys tonight
Overrated imo Give me a blantons |
Bought a few this evening on the way home:
Four Roses Single Barrel High West Rendezvous Rye Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Heavily Peated Islay The Scotch is the only one of the three I haven’t had and wasn’t in the mood for peated smoke tonight so dipped into the High West. Always like these guys. |

Just picked up a bottle of Old Forester 1920 - delicious. A Nashville buddy brought me a bottle of Old Hickory, also tasty. Got a bottle of Noah’s Mill...didn’t really wow me. Can’t get my hand on any Blanton’s, but sampled some at Harry’s, and must say it’s very nice. Aside from Blanton’s, I’m looking into a bottle of Little Book and Peerless Rye. Peerless is nice, but I haven’t had the Little Book. I’m skeptical about Little Book because it’s effectively Jim Beam, and I’m not really into Jim.
Thoughts? Incidentally - went to Campground in West Bottoms today...I recommend more than the new Rieger spot in East Bottoms. |
Where did you find the Noah's Mill im not a fan either but its brother Rowan's Creek is my favorite. Did you happen to find a bottle nearby?
