Yah. Feels like 2019 all over again.

I'm not there.

The 2019 team felt like a really good team that was maddeningly underperforming because it had a REALLY shitty coach (Yeo was just so ****ing bad).

They'd made the playoffs 5 straight years heading into the prior season when that dipshit took over.

Firing him brought them back to where they were before they foolishly hired him to begin with. But the core of the team was still very experienced.

This team just feels young and improving but not as ready as the 2019 squad was, IMO.

This actually feels a lot like the 2012 Blues. They were developing a new young core around an established championship caliber coach who replaced a slightly overmatched young coach early in the season. They improved as that new set of young guys got some confidence.

That team didn't feel like a Cup winner to me (they lost in the 2nd round) and I don't really think this one does either. But it felt like the start of something important.

This feels more and more like that every week.

I'm just not feelin' the 2019 comparison though.

Oh, I wasn't thinking they're the same kind of team, just that they're on a hot streak in a very similar way the 2019 was at the end of the season.

Good to see they've expanded coverage for the Caps and Ovechkin... I glanced at it a month ago and the ones listed with MNMT weren't being broadcasted anywhere else.... and just a couple days ago, tonight's game was NHLN only.

Would love seeing him break it tonight, but what would be truly storybook would be breaking it on 17 April against Pittsburgh.

There would be nothing better than breaking the record at home.

.....with an empty net goal.

The thought of him doing it against his nemesis Crosby and the Penguins during the last game of the season is just so enticing.

Great chance at the end.... and about 5 not-so-great chances, heh.

ChiefsCountry 04-05-2025 05:23 PM
