Is Casey weigman alive? We can trot him out there and convert him to left tackle

xztop123 03-08-2025 07:02 PM

I really liked this guy. His screen movement skills are phenomenal.

He really should be manufacturing evidence on another GM and owner that he can leverage to force them into a nonsense trade. I mean, if he is not, is he even trying?

Let's back off of the hyperbolic statements, we are in the golden era of Chiefs football.

He is overrated and over the hill.

Even when he was under the hill he was overrated.

I refuse to believe Veach would settle for that even being on the board. He’s going to make it look better even if it’s just on paper.

I’m not dying on this hill but a healthy Humphries is a massive upgrade over anything we trotted at LT and jump from average guard to elite guard is a much narrower margin that what we trotted out and average DJ Humphries play imo. They could easily be better. But again I’m not saying that means they would be good or saying we should go that route.

I mean, if the LT solution this year ends up being plugging in that brokedick at LT and backfilling it with a rookie, then yeah, he's going to be sharply criticized.

Humphries has already shown numerous times throughout his career he's injury prone as **** and Mahomes struggles mightily when he has to play behind a backup LT. That ain't changing with a rookie or Morris or whoever eventually has to fill in because Humphries got hurt AGAIN.

T-post Tom 03-08-2025 08:01 PM

He’ll regret it when the Chiefs beat the ravens in the playoffs next year. :)

People tend to be really stubborn. I bet Trent Williams still won’t admit he made a mistake snubbing KC in favor of the Niners. Same goes for Orlando Brown.

Titty Meat 03-08-2025 08:16 PM

Good didnt want him. Good player but he's had alot of injuries and has talked about retiring before

Mahomes007 03-08-2025 08:32 PM

Damn... pro bowl calibre LT making less in future years, than what Jawaan Taylor will be making at $27.392 million (cap number) per year in 2025 and 2026. Thanks Beach

May as well move Taylor to LT. He's getting paid like one of the elites.

Initially I thought that was the plan until we signed Donovan Smith. Don’t know why that was not considered when we had the revolving doors going on.

Smed1065 03-08-2025 09:31 PM

Guess I ran TLO outta here. I was just trying to help. He left I think. My bad.

Rain Man 03-08-2025 09:36 PM

Why would someone sign with another team when they could sign with the Chiefs? I don't get it.

GordonGekko 03-08-2025 10:07 PM

Looking more and more like DJ Humphries and an upcoming draft pick are going to compete for the starting job, I really wish we could figure out LT in FA so we can draft BPA with draft picks

Really wanted the Rams LT, this guy seemed like a huge injury risk anyway

I also feel if Humphries can just get in shape and be somewhat healthy, he can be trained up to be at least an average LT, that is all Mahomes really needs to be a 35+ TD QB again

TheGuardian 03-08-2025 10:55 PM

Not sad we missed on this guy, was more upset we didn't get a shot the Rams LT yeah.

Not looking great so far in FA, and everyone said Baret Vlice would be out here cooking.

BigRedChief 03-08-2025 11:31 PM

On to Robinson?

You're aware that nobody can sign any FAs outside of their own, correct?

JPH83 03-09-2025 01:10 AM

Think I'd take Jaylon Moore over an expensive Robinson move now. Would imagine we'll be wanting another developmental guy in the draft either way, assuming Kingsley kicks to guard permanently and Morris stays the swing.

Wouldn't hate it if we went with a RT to replace Taylor next year and give us more space to target LT in what looks a better FA.

ThyKingdomCome15 03-09-2025 01:32 AM

I'm pretty stunned he didn't test the market. He's the best LT by a lot. I'd say $20 million would have opened negotiations. It's clear he wants to be in BAL and that's a feather in their hat.

If you like where you are and who you work with it's a smart move.

Moving yourself, your family, and changing uniforms for an extra 15% where you hate your life is pretty damned stupid. Good for him. Sounds like an adult decision to me.

Well, there's only so much Veach can do, you know, since FREE AGENCY HASN'T EVEN STARTED YET.

I just read that three other teams were involved. Chiefs being one of them.

Two of those teams were offering 24 million/year.

So he left 12 million on the table, at least.

He must have wanted to stay in Baltimore, all along.

These highly competitive athletes would feel humiliated by running to sign with the team that always beat them in playoffs. But it’s a business so if we offered enough $ it was possible. Oh well.

What are the odds we start two young guys on left side?

Agreed there. Even if they draft a guy at 31, they aren't starting. It will be somebody like Humphries, Wills, or Smith.

Right.

Even if it's not Robinson, it could even be Jaylon or Dan Moore.

They WILL sign at least a youngish veteran as competition.

Thats why I really don't understand the 'it's a bad year to need a LT' stuff. It's ALWAYS a bad time to need a LT and honestly this year has MORE options than many of them.

It's going to be someone we haven't really been talking about, someone that hasn't been linked to the team in the media, and at first we'll all be like, "Huh?" And then when you think about it, you'll be like, "Oh, that makes sense."

Like that time we thought it would be a Niang/Taylor battle and signed Smith in like June?
