I watched Silverado last week. I'd completely forgotten about it, but man that's a good western.
|
Not super old but I watched Killing them Softly on Tubi. I didn't remember it at all. From 2010 so not real old.
Gangster heist type. Nothing amazing but damn did it have a good cast. Pitt, Ben Mendelsohn, Gandolfini, Liotta. I tend to enjoy Scoot McNairy and Richard Jenkins too |

Since then, and we're talking almost 50 years now, I've always been uneasy in any body of water where I didn't know what else was in there with me. Didn't matter if it was the ocean, a river, a lake or a pond. And if I was swimming and something touched me underwater, ****, I'd damn near leap on to the shore. I was too young to see The Exorcist in the theater, and when I finally saw it on HBO in the late 70s when I was a teenager it didn't bother me at all. I actually thought the demon was kind of funny. |

Kurt Russell is a gem. Just a fantastic actor, and funny as hell. |

Another forgotten Kurt Russell movie from the 80s that I absolutely love is The Best of Times. Robin Williams plays the loser who dropped what would have been the winning pass (from Russell) in the biggest game of his life, never got over it, and then sets out to rewrite history. Russell is a great straight man to Williams' lunacy. Some other comedies from the 80s: The Man With Two Brains. My second favorite Steve Martin movie after Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Over the top goofy and silly, plus a smoking hot young Kathleen Turner. Ruthless People. One of my favorite comedies ever. If you like your laughs with a vicious edge to them, this movie is for you. Danny DeVito absolutely slays. The Man With One Red Shoe. Forgotten early Tom Hanks movie that seemed to get bashed by everybody, including Hanks, but I thought it was great. Wonderful supporting cast, including Footloose's gorgeous Lori Singer and a scenery chewing Dabney Coleman as the bad guy. |
Oh hell yeah Fraz. The part when they are eating dinner with their wives and Robin Williams rolls the Tv into sight is hilarious.

Yah. And a catfish will probably let go of your foot once it realizes it's not a fish. A snapping turtle don't give a shit. When i was in HS my buddies invited me to go wrassling once; I know a posted about it years ago around here somewhere. Bottom line, when they told me they were going to tie a rope around me and the bumper of the truck "just in case" I decided i had a hair appt I'd forgotten about, lol. |

Used Cars was another great Kurt Russell movie. It's freaking hilarious.
Edit: It's on Tubi TV if you want some laughs. |
Its not really forgotten, but its old
Currently 45 minutes into a second viewing of Mississippi Burning with Hackman and Dafoe... damn its good, Hackman is just chewing up every scene he's in |
Lot of love for Kurt Russell, deservedly so. Dude is awesome.
If you wanna see another side to Kurt Russell, check out The Battered Bastards of Baseball. It's a doc from about ten years ago covering his time playing in independent league baseball up in Portland. Team was owned by his larger than life father. Great, great stuff. |

"Now get this straight shitkicker! Don't you go confusin' me with some whole other body. You must have your brains in your dick if you think we're gonna just walk away from this. We're gonna stay 'till this gets done." Turns to the Brad Dourif, Deputy character...: "How 'bout you, Deputy. That gun of yours just for show or do you get to shoot people once in a while?" Frees Rookers nuts: "Thanks for the beer." What's got four eyes in it and can't see? Mississippi. And oh baby... the scene when he gets to have some fun with the Deputy/Brad Dourif. Soooo satisfying... "You got a stupid smile, you know that?" "Make no mistake Deputy, I'll cut your ****ing head off and not give a shit how it reads in the report sheet." Pure intimidation. Dude knew how to be scary as hell without going over the top. Just ask Morgan Freeman from their time together on Unforgiven. "Now I ain't gonna hurt no woman. But I am gonna hurt you (Ned). And not gentle like before... But *BAD*." |

I thought of another old 80s comedy that is definitely forgotten - My Chauffer. Starring Deborah Foreman, Howard Hesseman and Sam Jones from Flash Gordon, in the only other movie I ever saw him in besides Flash Gordon. Also features a very young Penn and Teller.

Two sci-fi movies that fall into the "so bad they're good" category: Battle Beyond the Stars and Ice Pirates.

Heh. Blue Chips came up on the Rewatchables. That’s one I never heard talked about but is really a good film.

Dudley Moore was always pretty great. He starred in a mostly overlooked movie called Crazy People about a guy having a nervous breakdown while working in the ad industry. His honest ads are gold.
“Jaguar. For men who’d like handjobs from beautiful women they hardly know.” “Buy Volvos. They’re boxy, but they’re good.” “The Freak. This movie won’t only scare you. It will **** you up for life.” |
