LMAO 19 AAV over 4 years.

Sneed seems like a good dude, but a lot of our guys turn out to be shitheads that Reid was keeping in line. We’ll see here. I trust Veach with DBs no matter what. |
No one imagined we would get that little. It’s unconscionable.
We should have kept him. If we needed the cap Space that badly they should’ve taken more out of the Mahomes contract. Also, are there any other contracts we could restructure? It’s all right to say “in Veach we trust” but this is clearly a terrible move on his part. He needs to be called out on it when you mix blunders like this. No one always hits home runs and he shouldn’t be expected to either. And obviously he has done well overall. But this is terrible. Much worse than the sky Moore draft because you didn’t know you were getting someone useless then. Now you know you’re treating someone of really great value for essentially nothing. Correct me if I am wrong, but is anybody aware of a elite corner being given away for so little ever by anyone? |

Not great from Veach. Dorsey would’ve at least gotten a second.
I’m sorry I couldn’t help it. But for real that’s disappointing compensation. Oh well. |
Quote:
I wish we could’ve found a way to keep him for that (or more likely some watered down derivative), but I get it. Blame the Chris Jones contract, guys. |
This tells you the plan was always to walk on Sneed, they're just happy they got anything in return.
Also tells you his knee is pretty bad and it's questionable how many good years are left. |

I hope anyway |
I think Brett will combo that deal to get a higher first round pick.

Yea I mean in reality we caved and gave Jones what he wanted, that has consequences.
|
Sneed won. Nobody cares about the AAV. He got half a million more in guarantees than Jaylon Johnson. All that matters

Hard to look at it and go "Good trade", but we'll see I guess. A 3rd round pick for a corner that locked even Tyreek into oblivion doesn't sound too great.

The market for Sneed is the market for Sneed. Lol at all the morons saying Veach got F'ed. You are a freaking moron if you dont think Veach has the cap planned out YEARS in advance.
|
Listening to Sirius right now and they talked to Colts beat writer Stephen Holder who is saying that Sneed’s knee was just as much of a problem for Ballard as the contract. That’s apparently why they bowed out
|
Can not believe that a team trying to historically 3peat for a chance of rarified air loses a top 5 player and gets absolutely nothing that will help this year. In either picks or cap room to sign FAs.
Absolutely botched. Same as CJ last year |

Interesting timing that the Chiefs did this on their 101 Awards night.

The 3rd isn't even this season. Like I said, it's an awful trade. They should've kept him. Restructure other guys and kick the can until after Kelce retires. This is just god-awful resource management. It's just bad. There's no sugar coating it at all. The team is worse than it was 2 hours ago and got next to nothing in return. |

Man what a great trade for a 4th round pick for an elite cb.
|
Quote:
Who they get with that cap space might make the team better in the long run. |
Guys, they chose Jones.
It was always really unlikely they'd pay BOTH of them. Terrible trade? Veach got fleeced? Man, the market is what the market is. He can't force someone to give KC a high pick AND pay that salary. You take the deal you can get when you've decided to pay Jones. It frees up some cash, and although so many want to cry that all that are left is scrubs, guys we picked up on the cheap are a big reason we won the Super Bowl just a few months ago. We won because of DEPTH. We weathered injuries better than everyone else because of it. It is what it is. Let's get on with it, and win the damned thing again. |
Im not crazy about trade comp but let’s be real, teams knew we were trying to unload him and weren’t willing to give up picks. Main reason for the deal was not to pay him knowing spags has put on a ****ing master class developing DBs.
I’m more disappointed at stupid teams doing stupid shit. Does Tennessee really think he’s the last missing piece to put will Levis into the Super Bowl? I don’t understand what they’re doing here |
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chiefs were in a financial bind. Obviously they loved Sneed. Creed Humphrey, Nick Bolton, and Tre Smith all have contracts up soon. Oh well. All we can do now is move the **** on. Let’s hope that pick is put to the best use possible and you never know. We could get someone great from this.
Obviously I understand it’s hard to feel great right now but we still have a young defense, Mahomes got a Weapon. We keeping Mcduffie and extra cap space to use now or in 2025 when we need it. |
I don’t understand this trade at all. This can’t be accurate

Quote:
The Chiefs just traded one of the best CB’s in the league and are basically getting no immediate compensation in return this year… other than flipping a 7th round pick. |
Remember we all flipped shit when Veach traded Peters.
Let Veach cook!!!!!!!!! |
Maybe the Chiefs know the knee could be an issue going forward.
Maybe Sneed told the Chiefs he wouldn’t play on the tag to force a trade? And the list of possibilities could go on and on. Veach isn’t an idiot. If this was the best deal for the Chiefs….. in Veach we trust. |

Given that guaranteed money I don't think it's surprising it was a third. The 2025 though. Still, honestly wanted the cap space to insure we won't have a rookie LT so feeling very good about this season and the draft flexibility.

The CJ debacle was a clear loss that compounded this offseason. This Sneed thing looks just as bad in the context of threepeating THIS Year: Nobody is calling for his head. He sometimes cops losses like the rest of us. |
LOL AND WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED THE CRY BABIES WOULD COME OUT TO PLAY? ROFL.
For those who don't get it. The only CB in recent history who has been traded for a big haul is Jalen Ramsey. And he was a much better player and younger too. We got a second for Peters who was younger too. Sneed's age, injury history and contract demands were always gonna be a factor that limited the return we were getting. All in all it was a deal that had to be made and we move forward now with cap space to bring a few more pieces in hopefully. The bottom line is these other teams are NOT trying to help KC. Whether it's trading with us or trading up or down in the draft. There's a different rule for us now and that comes from winning. It is what it is. |
I don't get the purpose of the deal at this point.
For a future 3rd? That's just such a light return. What are they doing with the cap space? How many external pieces are they adding with this? I don't see a T that's worth it. If the space is used to lock up internal guys, that's also disappointing (could have been done differently). |
He was a 4th round pick we used him to win 2 SB and got a 3rd and 7 pick for an older injured DB and don’t have to pay him This isn’t Jeudy/Fields/Trey lance situation you guys are making out to be.

Assuming this is pretty much a clone of the Jaylon Johnson contract.. I would have just given him that. It’s really not that bad..
Without knowing how bad his knee really is obviously |
Quote:
He's been excellent but by no means infallible. This was a mistake. If this was all you could get, keep him. And if you were unwilling to keep him, don't tag him and lock up your cap space for the first two weeks of FA. And teams/agents also have memories. Good luck running this bluff next year, Brett... This was just bad. He got this wrong. |
Quote:
They weren't going to pay Sneed $19m. |
I think the only reason you do this is if you need to use the money, probably on a LT.
|
Quote:
You dont wanna pay 19 mill and have him blow a knee 4 games in then you're stuck holding that bag. |
Sneed got less then Carlton Davis. I mean wtf am I dreaming
|
Hold up, it’s not even this year’s ****ing third?
This trade is gay af Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If Sneed knows his knee is that bad he'd likely refuse to play on the tag.
|
Quote:
It’s not all doom and gloom. Neither was the Peters trade. |
Would have been better off not tagging him at all. Having 20m in cap tied up through the peak FA wave for some minimal gains didn't really seem worth it.

But if Sneed has another career year and his knee isn't a problem, then this trade is gonna look VERY foolish. |
Quote:
Couldn't even get the 7th on its own. Had to ****ing swap them. I mean it's just a complete kick in the dick. It's that awful scene from Draft Day and Ron Carthon just called Brett Veach a pancake eating mother****er. Veach got beat. Badly. And again - we have pending FAs that may get tagged next year. Folks will remember this. |
Quote:
If they don't it's a horrible trade. Plenty of value out there still. |
Quote:
The options were: - let Sneed walk, have money when FA starts OR use it how you wish, and likely get a 3rd comp pick next year after there’s a bidding war for Sneed - keep Sneed on the tag and have a great corner this year, then let him walk next year and get a ‘26 comp maybe - tag him, trade him for nothing new this year, and have money to spend weeks after FA began. Again, love Veach, SBs, etc… I just don’t get choosing option 3 from above. |
