My principal laughed about it but he really tried to screw my professional life because of postings on an internet message board. |

Was it Skip Towne? :hmmm: |

It's funny, I was just wondering the other day what happened to old Skip. I know he could be harsh but I always enjoyed his banter. |

Here's an interesting thread about it. https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=222410 |
Wow, looking at these old threads makes me realize that there are a lot of old posters who are no longer around here. :( I guess that is to be expected when one has been on a forum for over 22 years.

Well, I don't know. I only get on when I have down time at work. Rarely at night these days so maybe not so much wasting life. ;) |

Did he ever apologize for it. |

Damn. I was good friends with him and Milkman (I posted what his wife sent me after his passing) from the get go on here…both were known for telling it like it is and hazing n00bs. Sucks, but time waits for nobody, even n00bs. I’m sad to hear this. He even helped me get a contract with directv back in the day that made me a ton of $$$.
Dude was good people if you were able to get past the hard shell. Take care, friend. |

RIP to an old KU fan.
|
RIP always liked his persona and wondered what happened to him, sad
|
I remember agreeing with his "Astro's aren't minivans" stance. Put me in good standing with him. Also he was right, Astro's were built on light truck chassis and were rear-wheel drive.
RIP Skip. |
RIP to Skip, but I count anything with a sliding door as a minivan.
(Renewing the argument would make Skip happy.) |
RIP Skip Towne.
Wasn't he using WebTV in the early days of CP, or was that someone else? I remember he caught a lot of grief over that. |

Last interaction I can find with Skip was when he gave me positive rep for creating and posting this image from way back when Clay was obsessed with Geno Smith in 2013.
My, how times have changed. http://i.imgur.com/jlPjO.jpg |

Skip Towne was an older, grumpier version of Dane McCloud.
Both left town in a huff. |
Skip made it ok to be an ass to people on CP. As did Dane.
IMO, those two are the Godfathers of CP culture. (I know i said that already, but it sounds cool in my head) |
I was never in the fray, so I always was able to enjoy grouchy old man vs. noob from the sidelines.
RIP |

I sat back as a young Padawan. In many ways im Skip's fault. |
RIP Skip. He was the best! Very entertaining.
The Skip vs gochiefs rep wars lol |
I kinda remember a little n00b stuff from Skip when I went from lurker to poster, but mostly it was harmless. He was a good litmus test for whether people should bother sticking around. Wish he would have stopped by sometime before he passed. Anyone who posted through all those dark days deserved a victory lap. R.I.P
|
I wonder if Skip ever would have come around to my hatred of megathreads. He LOVED his 100+ post threads back in the day, but these days it seems like people would rather have giant threads than small threads.
RIP to a CP legend. |
Then by all accounts he past away when ku were natty Champs. That's how I would want to go out.
|
RIP & RCJH
|
Always enjoyed his posts. RIP Skip.
|
Got to meet Skip when he came to my place of business back 2000 or 2001, always enjoyed his posts. Started posting with him at the old Star board.
Legend of Chiefs Planet. RIP Skip. |
RIP Skip.

Loved his grumpy posts. It’s really cool to see so many of the original CP’ers come out to pay respects. Love this place and the people here. RIP Skip!

Skip actually mailed me one of those Directv splitter things years ago. Good guy.
|
Dude had a Masters Degree in psychology?
:doh!: I think the interesting thing is, he never had children. Prolly why he slapped us around and into shape. |
Quote:
I say that because if he did have one, he'd have crowed about it every time he denigrated somebody who didn't have a degree. Which for him was about every third post. |
Wow. I remember this guy. RIP :(

RIP Skip...he actually helped me with a satellite dish issue once. Appreciated his help.
Other times we would bicker about stupid little crap. I think he was actually the first person to Neg rep me eons ago and his comment with it was hilarious. But all in all we got along. Seeing this reminds me I was in my early 40's when this place started. Now I am an old "get off my lawn" guy. God bless the old Star Board for being so narrow minded that Kyle had to start this place. |
RIP to the grouchy one. Taking his “get off my lawn” attitude the wrong direction……
He was funny when you started to get his schtick. Losing too many, it seems like lately. |

RIP Skip. You never said that high school was a sand green championship.
Rereading the linked thread has me feeling a bit down. The shit I said…and now he’s gone from this life. I should have stayed above it. |
In lieu of flowers, you can purchase a WebTV in memoriam.

In honor of Skip, I checked how many 100+ reply threads I’ve created….. 369. Somewhere Skip is smiling.
|
I'll go ahead and move this over to the HOC, but while I do that...
I was randomly looking at the list of top members by post count today, and I noticed that Skip is still on the first page (#30) even though he hasn't posted for a decade. The dude was quite prolific for his time (especially given the WebTV thing). |
Get off my lawn!
