Staylor and I talked about him when he visited us. He wasn’t my favorite WR but I liked him.

He was one of the best YAC producers in all of CFB last year so you know that’s what stood out. He’s got size.

I think this is absolutely a WR that will be used like Juju. We needed a bigger WR in this room pretty badly

Hyatt is being killed by being a 1 trick pony speed receiver that ran a 4.41 that is like being a HR hitter that shows he lacks power.

Just not with wide receivers.

In the 40...that's a pretty big gap...especially for a WR.

AussieChiefsFan 04-28-2023 07:06 PM

Seems like a good pick. Fills a specific need at WR and he'll have every chance to succeed in KC.

lcarus 04-28-2023 07:07 PM

This guy could be the next Justin Jefferson for all we know. All I know is it's another WR for Mahomes. How can I not love it?

Rice went straight to the top of the list once Mingo was gone.

There's one. CEH isn't a WR that he took over Higgins. And the Hardman debate has been done to death because of the Hill situation. You guys never shut the **** up about it.

Andy and Patrick must have really loved the role that Juju filled in the offense.

They could draft howdy doodie each round and still get an A+ from me. If they say they got their guy, I’m gonna support that.

Hardman had maybe the catch of our entire postseason and held on despite having his injured lower body folded up like a pretzel.

Sometimes you can still net a W with a draft pick even if someone better was available.

Well, DHop also ran a 4.41 at his pro day. I don't remember why they said he ran a 4.57 at the Combine anymore, but he was always faster than that. Right now he might be a 4.5 guy, but everything else about DHop is elite level, so speed isn't a big issue for WRs like DHop.

You just gotta trust Veach.

His picks directly won us this last SB.

If he feels he needed to give up a 4 to trade up and get THE WR the team wanted after the 4 in the first + Mingo, then by all means, do what you do.

It’s not like they just drafted a guard or something. You’re just debating WR value.

And if people spent 5 seconds thinking about the process.

Hours and hours of tape, combine, scouts, etc, etc... get opinions from the one guy who turned the franchise around.

Weigh all of that (thinking Mahomes might get some weight over everyone else), and probably end up splitting hairs over a few guys who could all turn out to be good or, well, not.

...yet some people are automatically pissed when that completely non-scientific, completely theoretical process of splitting hairs doesn't go the way their non-football-professional brain had it sorted out, versus a franchise that seems to be doing pretty well these days.

k.

I won’t pretend to be an expert, but I listened to enough podcasts that the Tennessee WRs were in a gimmicky offense and the only thing Hyatt showed was an ability to win on go routes. That has value and he might be able to evolve, but the team decided to go in a different direction.

I'm watching his highlights now, and while I don't see a lot of burst, he does play with a lot of athleticism, and he looks pretty strong.

As I said before the draft, I have no idea why all the guys who love Deandre Hopkins aren't all over Rashee Rice.

I have no idea if Rice will put up the same kind of career numbers, but that's what I see when I watch the tape. I see a young Hopkins.

I’d like some speed too but in general isn’t too hard to find. Hell we passed on mecole for peanuts and signed Mvs for peanuts.

Pest provided it already.

We drafted Rice - I came.

Right but we all remember how wrong you were on Frank Clark.

Offense might been gimmicky, and Hyatt was definitely used that way, but Tillman is a good football player. Somebody is going to get a starter in round 3.

Rashee Rice did an interview where he said he models his game after DeAndre Hopkins...

I think the team proved last year without Hardman and Hill that the offense doesn’t need elite burners to be special. I think this selection in Rice and how the offense evolved last year is shifting the way Andy Reid is deploying his offense.
