Can't blame Veach for not wanting to pay a 28 year old, speed dependent WR TOP TEN QB MONEY, but man, the return sucks a bag of dicks.

Chiefs could bundle #29 and #30 to move up in Round 1 and maybe also get that team's second round pick if Chiefs give up a 4th or something.
It would be interesting to see if they just draft with these picks or try to move up for an elite prospect who would never be around at #29 or #30. Tyreek has brought more excitement and joy than any Chiefs player ever. Long TDs on returns, lined up as RB and so many as WR. His natural gifts and work ethic, he is an all-time great. I hate to see him leave, but it is not as hard to take as I would have thought, since it is before draft. |
this is very comparable to the Adams deal, certainly not significantly worse. You guys are overreacting.
We have 8 picks now in the top 135 in a very, very deep draft. We have an extra $20m in cap space to play with. This team will look different this year, but it might well look better overall when it's all said and done. Reload. I'm down. |
yall who were calling me a moron in the other thread last week for saying we are in a mini rebuild want to apologize now?
|
We just gained 20MM in cap space as well.
KC was never going to pay Hill $30MMper year. |
**** YOU VEACH. ****ING ASSHOLE
|
I wondered when he declined to a rework last year to save us cap space. Sad day for sure, wish him well.

Lol, that’s it?

As a broncos fan happy to see him out of the division. Which also explains the distaste for the trade by you guys. 😁
That said, you guys still have that Mahomes ****er under center and, as much as it pains me to say it, he is a real mother****er to play against. Those picks are gonna give y’all a lot of firepower and flexibility come draft time. Cold comfort for losing a fan favorite but I can sympathize with how y’all feel. Just from one sports fan to another. |
Paying Hill what the Dolphins are is a better would have been a better use of cap funds that paying Frank Clark what we've been paying. Past bad decisions affect the present.

Hill -> MIA Late 1st and trash -> KC you can't convince me this is in any way shape or form a good trade for us. **** off with that apologist bullshit. the return is absolute garbage for what will be a hof talent in his prime. |

3 year 75 million dollar extension per NFL Network
|
This trade is ****ing pathetic from every angle.
|
I really like getting younger!
|
Bullshit. Jets had AT LEAST #10 on the table. If Hill doesnt want his massive extension with the highest bidder then he can think about the tag during the rest of his prime years to reconsider. ****ing garbage we took that offer in part to appease where Hill wanted to go.
|
Tyreek got $30 million AAV from the Dolphins
THIRTY MILLION Veach absolutely did the right thing |
Just stay put, Brett.
We're taking a step back. That's a foregone conclusion at this point. So don't get aggressive and go trading for veteran WRs. Don't go packaging 1st round picks and giving up value to get someone 5% better than who you'd get at 29 and 30. Just sit ****ing still. Let the draft come to you, take the best player available at any spot anywhere. Recognize that next year may be nasty and it just doesn't goddamn matter. This just isn't a good enough return to justify keeping your foot on the gas. And those 4th ****ing rounders are just insulting somehow. Like they goddamn matter in a trade of this magnitude. Ugh - this is just damn disappointing. A late 1st, a mid-2nd and some scraps. Blech. |

WR's seem to grow on trees these days. This is like the 3rd or 4th consecutive "strong WR" year in the draft. |

Tyreek now highest paid receiver in the league. No way we could have done that. |

Lol.....at whomever said we "barely" had a run. 4 straight AFC Championship games and a couple superbowls is something most teams would die for.

AMF (adios mf)
I'm just glad we have a QB who is about the team. |
I'm good with it. Tyreek has wanted out of KC for a while. He was either going to drag KC over the coals on a contract, or be dealt. Chiefs took the reins and shipped him off to where he really wants to be, Miami.
I'm not ecstatic in the compensation. But it will be a chance to refocus and regroup while getting younger. Or maybe even trade up. My feelings on the quickness of this tell me there was more to it than we will ever know. I have a feeling though there might be a few in Chiefs land that lose their family sources of info with the moves that have been made and certain players not resigned. |

He’s going to have cap hits of more than $30 million from 2023-2025. Our cap would be ****ed and we wouldn’t have the picks to supplement it |

This is similar to the "Patriots Way" philosophy... Everyone else in the Conference and Division are trying to catch lightning in a bottle like the Rams and like they do in Baseball. We are in it for the long game and as much as I love Tyreek, paying him that kind of money would have broke us in the long term.
|
Will Hill go into the HOF a Chief or a Dolphin? /Deberg
|
With the Chiefs picks we have to hope, pray, grab our lucky jock straps, and sacrifice sacred animals that one of the selections is the 2nd coming of Reggie White or it results in the 1974 Steelers draft quality.

This would be a lot easier to accept if they were SB champs.
Too bad this little traitor wouldn't accept a team-friendly deal. So many greedy bastards out there. |

Like most, I was hoping to get a little more next year, but before the trade is given an "F", let's see what happens with the $20mm cap space that opened up (prob won't know until next year), and what Veach does with the extra picks (comps from Poles). He's never been in this position, never had an economy of picks...if he's great, he can practically rule the next two drafts. 1 down year while everyone spends like a Hilton sister so you dominate the next 7? Deal me in.
|
This hurts as a big Tyreek fan but obviously they wanted to offer a ton to get him.
Just remember Jared Allen's trade and how it hurt like hell and then we drafted GREAT and got Brandon Albert and Jamaal Charles. Let's hope we get something good here. I wonder if Brett felt since all the teams are playing a deep cover 2 now, that Tyreek's value was less? He was one hell of a weapon. |

should have took the jets #10 pick
#29 is shit |
You just aren't going to find another talent like Hill. That's why it sucks. It's not going to happen. But it's the name of the game... we've been going all out to win the last couple years and other teams will have more cap space and be able to go wild. And when you're successful some guys are going think they've got their ring and go get as much money as humanly possible.
The only way to kind of stop this is do what Polian did with the Colts, pay Manning, James, Harrison, etc. and then literally don't do anything major in FA and build everything through the draft. |
Congratulations for a move the Patriots under Belichick would have made 10 out of 10 times. Great medium to long term deal for the Chiefs if KC just does a decent job with the additional cap space and plethora of picks. It values Hill more than Adams and when you factor in Hill's punt returning ability, he should be valued a little more. Hill will probably age better than Adams since he takes less big hits and he is already one year younger but one injury to Hill could obviously change everything.
Dolphins made much more sense for Hill than the Jets. He will be the big star even over their QB which most people think of as someone more like an average QB. Lower taxes than NY. Warm weather perhaps more important as he ages. Arguably better night life than even NY. Great place to live if you are rich. Long term this trade helps the Bills/Patriots/Jets since Dolphins lost so much cheap draft capital but it does make the Dolphins better in the short term. |

Sucks. Don't think we got enough back. Was my favorite guy. But he is secure for life.
But I guess we see how Patrick does without him. Guys will need to step up or Kelce will be triple teamed. |
Now we have to rebuild our offense?
LMAO We need a couple of young talented WRs. That’s it. The rest is all defense. |

This sucks so bad. You could have 10 high #1 draft picks and easily not hit on a HOF-level talent like Hill. Yeah he's 28 but the dude is a solid ball of muscle and not injury prone. He's easily got 4 more good years. This is less than we got for Jared Allen.
You have to hope the Chiefs know something we don't. Or that Mahomes was good with this on some level. Good teams don't trade away HOF players in their prime. It's just weird. Plus I like watching Hill play. He's a fun player. I always thought we'd have him through his prime. I don't want to be like the Oakland As where we just bring in a bunch of market-efficient retreads. Not losing star players is one big reason I like the NFL better than MLB now. |
A lot of people mad at Veach, but few are mad at Hill. Interesting.
|
What can a person buy with a salary of $28M that a person making $25M can't?

Wow |
The Jared Allen trade got us Branden Albert, Jamaal Charles, DaJaun Morgan and saved a shit load of money.
Hopefully BURT can pull off something similar. |
I am 100% not trolling but I have to ask... There is a certain player that likes to play with legends... PM will be a legend if he is not already. Will AB be in a Chiefs uniform next year....
|
Sucks but...
Mahomes. + $20M + a shitton of picks. |
There has to be a little more to this than just financial reasons.
The Chiefs know more than we do, it's his attitude, a health issue, chemistry...something that made this decision doable for less than (2) 1s. |
