guaranteed atleast 1 first rounder,

here is his current contract

Most likely a 2nd with conditions for a 1st. Don't see anyone outright giving a 1st.

Colts can have him for less than a 1. Browns are going to dump him no matter what even if it's a 3rd.

With that contract (guaranteed) he can afford it if they don't...

Mile High Mania 03-18-2022 03:04 PM

Watch the Bucs trade for Baker ... cheap and then they have their insurance if Brady gets hurt or retires.

suzzer99 03-18-2022 03:04 PM

Man this has lol Cleveland bust written all over it. Watson hasn't played in a year. He was good but barely worth that much (minus trading 3 1sts to get it).

I feel like we never quite got to the point where the league figured Watson out to some degree, then see how he adjusts, which seems to happen to every QB phenom. Some overcome it, some don't.

Who knows what this whole scandal has done to his confidence. Maybe he doesn't come back the same player.

I wouldn't trade Mahomes for 3 1st round picks but he is much more proven a player than Watson.

I wouldn't give 3 1st round picks for him. 2 probably but not with that contract to go along with it.

One of the reasons trading up and giving up 2 1st round picks for a player like Mahomes is if you hit you have a very nice contract for the first 4 or so years unlike how Cleveland is doing this with 3 1st round picks and the massive deal all at once.

FloridaMan88 03-18-2022 03:17 PM

If Rapelithsberger got a 4 game suspension, have to think Watson is going to get at least a 6 game suspension.

Cleveland could be like 2-4 before Watson is even available to play next season.

Of course they are playing the long term game with this move and not just next season.

Yes you would.

Just think of some of the recent epic first round draft pick disasters by the Raiders… you wouldn’t trade that for a generational QB like Mahomes?

Oh yea, Now of course PM is worth 3+ first round picks + the $$ but PM is not an idiot and does not appear to put himself in situations that could ruin his career. DW is not PM talent wise or ethics wise.. The only thing that worries me with those massive contracts is all the guaranteed money. God forbid but DW can go out on the field and have a Teddy Bridgewater injury and never play another down in football and still get 46 million per year.

KINGPIN CHIEFS FAN 03-18-2022 04:32 PM

Watson doesn't like playing in cold weather so good luck come December and January in Cleveland. The guaranteed money had to be the reason he picked the Browns. The fans in the dog pound will chew him up and spit him out when he shows his true colors and the Browns start piling up the losses. Cleveland will still remain the mistake by the lake!

Joe doesn't have a moral compass, either. That shit went down with Joe Paterno and he published his damn biography of him anyway practically unchanged, probably in rather glowing terms, too. Then tried to peddle and sell it with, "Look... okay... just, he's not that bad, alright?"

ThyKingdomCome15 03-18-2022 05:59 PM

Not sure if Watson will ever live down this whole sexual misconduct issue but he certainly has enough money to make those women smile.

As for the Browns, dang. I don't believe they have the team to get to the AFCCG. Compile that with them not having any first round draft picks for three years and huge chunk of their salary cap gone for five years. This will end in disappointment. Watson had way better receivers in HOU back in 2018.

tredadda 03-18-2022 06:17 PM

Crazy that the Browns acquired a franchise QB without giving up any players and still have a lot of valuable picks for the 2022 draft.

Browns only gave up 1 pick this year and 2 next year. Cleveland will *STILL* have 5 picks in the first 118 draft picks this year, only 2 teams have more (NYJ, NYG), and they'll likely add more 2022 draft capital when they trade Baker Mayfield

That's pretty funny if you look at it like Watson being better than Wilson at this stage in each career. Watson still has upside needs solid coaching but Wilson is what he is and start to dwindle. In that cold crisp mountain air he is not going want to take hits or move around like he did in Seattle. I hope we play Denver late again at Arrowhead.

Capt_Von_Trapp 03-18-2022 08:43 PM

Browns actually said they wanted an “Adult “ at QB. Wow

PattyFlakes 03-18-2022 08:50 PM

Let me be 100% honest, as much as I love PM , I would not give this much $$$ and picks for him, I would not give DW the money much less the picks with his baggage . Whatever happened to prove it deals in the NFL?

The Chiefs would laugh in your face too.

Posnanski still can’t quit his sanctimonious bullshit act apparently.

The same hypocritical fraud who wrote this sympathetic dreck…

All he has to do is say he is sorry and he was wrong. Everyone will forgive and forget about it. It's not like he was molesting children. I don't understand why everyone is so upset about what he did; we make laws that allow grown men to use the same restrooms as young girls. The selective outrage is difficult to understand.

I suspect they will.

But the Browns made his salary 1mm this season. So if somehow he gets suspended for 17 games, the guy only loses 1mm.

The dude has been massively rewarded for his behavior. It’s pretty incredible.
