Lock isn't going to even be a factor when this is all said an done.

I'm sure they gave up quite a bit more than what Washington was offering. It's going to be 2 firsts, 3 firsts, and/or some combination of decent players IN ADDITION to Lock.

And I still think one of them has to be one of their TEs - Albert O and Fant are somewhat redundant.

Wilson is a HOF player and was a great QB. He's still very good but he is in decline.

Hopefully this makes Veach get aggressive in the FA market. Sign a top WR, score 40 points a game.

Enjoy the rivalry, we still win.

Rain Man 03-08-2022 01:05 PM

Wow. Shelby Harris was the best player on their team, other than maybe Justin Simmons. I'll be glad to see him gone.

Unless they sold the farm in a Ricky Williams type deal, it's probably a good deal for the Donks.

As well as the cap hit to go along with that.
Donk show has to pray they land some cheap free agents and hit in later rounds. The move makes them competitive, sure. But how much more is the question?
Wilson's regression last season is worrisome. He has always been a very streaky inconsistent qb. Let's see how this all unfolds.

He threw the ball 32 times/gm over the last two seasons and after average 8 yards per attempt through his prime, Wilson averaged 7.6 YPA the last 2 seasons.

With the same offensive philosophy. And in both years he was worse in the 2nd half than he was in the 1st. That's not a philosophy issue.

He's just played worse.

Wilson is a good QB, really good. But...he's declining, he'll be the 3rd best QB in the division. Take away a few pieces on defense from them, and a few picks. Denver might stay the 3rd best team ... wait til we see the rest.

Yeah, the cap hits are dick. That's actually part of the appeal of Wilson.

After the dead money hits the Seattle cap, the cap hits for Denver are $24 and $27 million. If Denver is smart, they'll use that flexibility to build an extension. They didn't give up this kind of capital for 2 years of Russ. You're pot-committed now.

So get him on a new 5 year deal that leverage those low cap hits to get you a nice discount over the length of the deal.

The problem with Seattle making this trade now is there is no certain pathway forward to replace Wilson at QB.

Weak QB draft this year.

No other veteran QB's realistically available for them to acquire/build around (unless they want to risk trading for Watson).

All depends on how much rope the front office has given Carroll. Add talent in the draft this year and find a rookie next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they grab a guy like Ridder at the end of the first or top of the second.

No other veteran QB's realistically available for them to acquire/build around (unless they want to risk trading for Watson).

Wonder if they had there eye on someone they really like in this year's draft (as an eventual replacement for RW) and that is part of the reason they made the trade to get that Top 10 pick from Denver? Now they can go get their guy, if they want.

I know people think this is a weak QB class (and it may well be), but people were saying the same thing about the 2017 QB draft class right up until before the draft when Mahomes, Watson and Trubisky all started climbing up the rankings and mocks . . . . . . .
