He’d be an excellent value on day 2 and is a perfect fit for our offense. |

He's playing the heel this year. He flips every season I think. |

When Albert went out for the last 4 games of the season, who started at Left Tackle? Oh yeah, Donald ****ing Stephenson. Andy does not like playing rookie tackles. |
I wonder if there’s any chance the Chiefs cut LDT.
I definitely don’t think so, but if we didn’t have question marks all over the OL, I think he would be a candidate. There are going to be a lot of G’s available. |

Like I said though, didn’t think it would happen either way. Just some LNBS looking at these G’s that are and might be available. I saw Zeitler and Norwell could be cut or traded. They’d still be great additions (if they’re cut). |

Andy’s history at his tackle spots has shown he prefers to get “sure things” at the OT spots. Tre Thomas was drafted in 1998 (the year before Andy got to Philly) and started day one...so Andy didn’t have to worry about LT until 2009 when he signed Jason Peters to replace him when Tre was 34 years old. Peters started at LT till...last year. 2 left tackles in his whole time in Philly and only had to replace one once. Andy signed Jon Runyon in his second year in Philly and he was his starter at RT till 2009. Andy never successfully replaced Runyon and the RT spot was a revolving door after Runyan was done. Andy prefers vets at the OT spots. |

The top guys in free agency are going to be too expensive. |

A veteran placeholder + Little is one of the better ways to address LT, IMO. You need the bet to bandaid the position until either Fisher is back or Little/Niang has shown enough in practice to earn a shot. Looking at what’s likely to be available and costs, Kelvin Beachum probably is the top “reasonably priced” option out there. He’d be a considerable upgrade as the swing tackle from Remmers and is just the type of guy likely to be squeezed by this market (solid vet who is a little older). 1 year, $5M on Beachum is do-able for the Chiefs and would stabilize things quite a bit. He’s not a great all around tackle, but he does skew better in pass pro and is solid/slightly above average. If that doesn’t work, I think Peters is pretty close in line in terms of next-best option for that type of approach. |

LDT's current cap number is $4,750,000 for 2021. The Chiefs if they cut him, would have $6,750,000 of Dead money, because the contract is set up to pay an additional $2,000,000 in 2022. If the cut him post June 1, they would have $4,750,000 of dead money. with the additional $2,000,000 cap hit in 2022. BUT... We could trade LDT post June 1. We would save $2,750,000 of cap space and have $2,000,000 of Dead money for 2021 and $2,000,000 of dead money in 2022. I think the probability is that LDT will be on the Chiefs roster for 2021. |
