If the answer is "yes," then no we don't have to worry about him.

Yeah, but Lock isn't a statue stuck in 30 lbs of cement trying to play QB either. The line is still an issue for Denver, but Lock has some mobility. Lock was not sacked vs the Chargers and was sacked 3X by Houston. Small body of work, but he's by far more mobile than Flacco.

rookie QB on the road? check.
rookie QB in front of his family in his hometown? check.
behind a shitty offensive line? check.
Chiefs d-line has been feasting? check.
ball hawking turnover machine secondary at home? check.

We should win this game, and handily. Injuries could always derail it, but there's no way the Chiefs are not a huge mismatch for Denver.

Hear! Hear! why even play the game?

smithandrew051 12-09-2019 11:37 AM

That path is wide open for us to win out. I still think 12-4 gets the us the 2 seed.

Patriots have another loss in them somewhere. They haven’t had their WTF loss yet. Every loss of theirs has been to a better team. They’ll drop one that they shouldn’t.

I hope we blow them out of the water. Donk fans haven’t been face ****ed by mediocrity near long enough. Bring Lock back to reality on Sunday and show that Elway is still a ****ing worthless GM who can’t draft a QB. They need to live this shitty reality for at least 15-20 years before I’ll be satisfied.

RunKC 12-09-2019 11:53 AM

The Chiefs were pressuring Brady with blitzes all night. Tom is 42 years old and has seen everything from every type of defense. And we ****ed him up.

It would be a tall task for a rookie to read all the well timed blitzes that Tom Brady could not.

Buffalo seems like the most likely loss for NE, but I'm starting to think they have a real shot of losing in Cincinnati next week. The Bengals have been pretty competitive over the last several weeks.

Doesn't really tell ya much, but it's about the only real recent comparison. Denver is 3-3 after losing to KC and benching Flacco. Close loss to IND and MIN, the team has played better, which as a fan is all you can hope for.

Really you should hope to lose the rest of the games for draft spot slotting. That can make a big difference in the grand scheme of things.

Won’t happen though, 24-20 KC, but I believe they will play well.

I have the Donkos winning next week. Chiefs coming off an emotional game & Drew Lock proving he is a stud.

Meh. A game between Denver and KC is unlikely to be a trap. The divisional rivalry is enough to prevent KC from coming out flat like the Texans.

This is a deep draft in a lot of areas and the Broncos have a lot of picks. QB is deep, OL is deep, DL is pretty deep, defensive secondary is pretty deep. Broncos need help on both offensive and defensive line, CB and inside linebacker. Broncos need more depth at WR too. I think Lock will lock in the QB position moving forward so I seriously doubt the Broncos will spend a high pick on QB.

They refuse to acknowledge the defensive improvement. Even after the 30-6 beatdown. I’m not sure there has been a much more dominant defensive performance in the entire league this year.

Sure, Lock is a big upgrade over Flacco, but I’m not convinced he’s elite. If you watch the full highlights of yesterday’s game, it consisted of about three nice throws and a bunch of dump-offs and checkdowns. Plus, Houston’s D is among the worst in the league at this point.

Regardless, the biggest problem for them in Denver was the pass protection. Unless that has magically improved dramatically, we can still cause them major problems.

I tend to agree with them.

Lock has been the best QB in the division the last couple of weeks.

And I'm sure you're not a Missouri homer, right?

I've watched the highlights, and I don't see anything that should terrify the league. I'm sure he'll be a solid QB, and much better than anything they've had in 5 years, but that's all I'm prepared to say.

He had a nice deep ball or two, and one nice intermediate throw. Aside from that, it was a lot of dump-offs to wide open receivers and YAC. The defense was terrible. He was just taking what they were giving and had no pressure in his face.

That will change next week. Know what else will change? He won't be playing indoors on turf.

What stood out in his game vs the Chargers? He did next to nothing in that game. In fact, the play that stood out most was the terrible 4th quarter INT he threw.

You've got to be a Missouri homer.

It's very fitting that Drew Locks first L as a professional quarterback will come in KC

Since he is from Lees Summit and all

Megatron96 12-09-2019 01:10 PM

He managed to beat the Texans D.

A defense that is ranked 27th or worse in 3rd downs, red-zone scoring, passing defense, INTs, QB pressures, and sacks.

And that defense managed to sack Lock how many times yesterday?

They have the same OL they had in week 6 (or whenever it was), the same running game, but now no Sanders and probably no Fant (don't know what his issue is, but they carted him off the field, right?).

Say good-night, Irene. It's going to be a rough night for DEN. Again.

But I was told it was an obvious tank job going on in Dungver. Now the team has won a game again and the tanking has stopped? I’m confused, help a brotha understand wtf is happening in Dung town?

The main reason anyone was enthusiastic about tanking was to have the best possible chance to rise above our dumpster fire of a QB situation. Lock has played well enough to provide hope, and the QB situation in the draft has gone off a cliff (other than Burrow).

Now, it's playoffs, or bust.

Also, consider this: last night Spags blitzed Brady about 30% of the time (according to ESPN).

When we played DEN earlier this season we blitzed Flacco 44% of the time.

I'm not saying Spags plans on blitzing Lock 44% of the time, but he's going to send 'em more than 30% of the time, I guarantee you. And our blitz is actually more efficient than it was in week 6.

Probably because we just beat the Patriots. And we destroyed the Broncos in DEN without Pat. Now this game is in Arrowhead, the OL is healthy, Their OL is the same one that gave up 8 sacks, they're without Sanders and Fant, and Pat is back.

So whatever the spread was for the first game (can't remember what it was, but I'm thinking probably about a TD), then add at least 4-6 points because Pat.

Op from the link above:

"Choose your franchise centerpiece: Drew Lock, or Patrick Mahomes?
12-09-2019, 02:35 PM
Okay, let’s pretend that we get a call from the league tomorrow. They say, essentially, “It’s in our best interest to help the proud, historic franchises with the consistent fan bases. So, we’re going to let you choose the QB to build around. You can keep what you have, or you can take any other QB in the division.” (This scenario is actually not that far-fetched, as I can’t imagine Mahomes will choose to stay in a place like Kansas City any longer than he has to, which means two more seasons.)

Who do you choose?

As I see it, there are actually some decent justifications for Mahomes. Yes, he’s a system QB. But if you have an offensive staff that is willing to tailor the offense to his strengths, that can be okay. Also, while he’s definitely showing himself to be fragile, you have to assume a smarter franchise would 1) invest so that he’s not behind a crappy offensive line; and B) avoid brain farts, like running a guy with a fragile body into the heart of one of the more vicious defenses in the league. Honestly, I don’t see any reason why, managed properly, he couldn’t have a nice, little 8-10 year career in this league, a la Joe Flacco (who, let’s not forget, won that one Super Bowl).

On the other side, Lock does seem to have that almost magical quality so many of the greats have. His arm compares to Elway’s, when he came into the league. And while he doesn’t run quite as well as Lamar Jackson, he makes Mahomes look like Carson Palmer, towards the end of his career. You can plug him into any system, and have it work (you don’t have to dumb anything down, like they’ve done in KC). And he has a body that looks built to hold up in the NFL. Can you imagine a guy like Drew Lock’s numbers dropping off as severely as Mahomes, in his second year? Yeah, I can’t either. Throw in the fact that Lock is more than a year younger than Mahomes, and the needle pushes even more in his direction.

So, do you go with the guy who had a nice second year in the league, despite not being able to really crack the lineup as a rookie? Or do you go with the guy who looks like he might be The Natural? Do you go with the guy who will probably have a nice career as an upper-level, second-tier QB in the league? Or do you go with the guy who has the physical talent to be the GOAT, but has one less season to have proven himself, at this point?

Don’t get me wrong. I think that most league people would basically say, “Duh, you take Lock.” But I think it might be closer than we might assume. What do you think?"

I've read it twice; it's still just about the dumbest take I've read about Pat. Which is saying something.

I’ll be shocked if Drew Lock is prepared for the complexity Steve Spagnuolo is going to show him on Sunday.

He is physically very talented, but his college experience didn’t prepare him for handling the type of exotic blitzes and coverages the Chiefs have been succeeding with. He’s a tough player who can make some crazy plays because of his physical ability, but reading and diagnosing pre-snap was not a strength displayed in college.

I’m sure the Broncos are doing a good job with him, but that’s a lot to ask of him in six months.

I’ll guess he will throw at least 2 picks on Sunday, complete around 55 percent of his passes, and be sub-300 yards.

I'm sure it is, but usually just read a quote such as the earlier one on here. Besides, the stench is strong with that place.
