Again, they would not know until they could unload the equipment which was this morning. Do you truly think this has ever happened by a chartered flight in the NFL. NO, because it most likely hasn't. This isn't a ground crew forgetting your bag on a public flight. This is a large container on a CHARTERED flight... Please.

This is how it works... The flight lands, equipment containers are moved off the plane by local crews and transported by local crews to Foxboro... The equipment people wouldn't know until they were able to unpack the gear at the stadium, which they did.

Do you think ground crews just leave giant containers on planes that are chartered... This was incompetence or cheating, but neither by the Chiefs.

The report didn't say they couldn't unload. It said they couldn't set up. They could have still unloaded it and stored it somewhere until they could set the locker room up.

Come on King. I could probably guarantee it stayed on the truck until they could get it in the Stadium this morning. Quit making excuses for NE... Do you think a team chartered flight at any other airport just mysteriously had a large container left in the cargo hold of players equipment... **** no.

If franchises in a billion dollar business like the NFL do not have someone checking off a list as the containers are unloaded I would be highly surprised. Just because they are not taking possession of it yet does not mean they cannot account for it being unloaded from the plane or loaded onto the truck/van.

Also the possibility for theft. Maybe not anymore with cameras, etc. But you'd think we would account for them after unloading somehow and would have to be stored in a secure place.

Any doubt the equipment manager is a Reid guy?

In my brief stint as a Worlds or Fun company courier you wound up doing a lot of currier work for the Chief being we were close to the airport. Bobby Yarborough was always getting stuff in to try out from manufacturers. It would come to Lamar's underground storage and I would be tasked with getting it to Bobby. He was a hell of a dude and also doubled as trainer as he taped most the players ankles and such. He designed a lot of stuff including Willie Lanier's extra stip of cushion on his helmet. I asked him why he did that he said because he suffered a subdural hematoma in his first year with Chiefs.
Here is a short interview with Bobby with interesting Chiefs tidbits.

I just can’t believe that teams do not have someone in place to make sure equipment makes it through transition points. There is just too much money involved in this business to not have these fail safe systems in place.

big nasty kcnut 12-08-2019 02:31 PM

It's the airline fault they didn't load it usually the team inspect the gear on Saturday but the pat stadium was hosting a high school game so they couldn't do it untill today.

This cant happen or shouldn't. The chiefs have a list of what is where in the packing crates. It gets scanned in and checked off its aboard. When it arrived they should have had someone to check the scanned list of items deboarded. There has to be more to this story.

No they didn't. The equipment guys are making makeshift pads and helmets out of pots, styrofoam and spare plastics they find lying around.

frozenchief 12-08-2019 02:48 PM

Imagine being that equipment guy. Can’t get it set up Saturday night so you roll out of bed extra early, particularly considering the 1 hour time loss. Get down to th equipment room and realize a major portion of Gear is missing. I think I’d crap my pants.

Good thing it was in NJ and not LA.

I'm not pushing any conspiracy angle... Logic tells me that every team NFL team is at a major airport where the equipment lands on a charter plane. In 30 plus years of chartered flights at all of these airports, I doubt this has ever been an issue. The equipment is most likely checked by KC staff when it is sent to the airport for loading, but no it wouldn't be checked by the team when it arrived and they would most likely not be allowed to check it off when they were unloading the plane, or they would never ever see the need to do so base on 30 plus years of experience.

Those defending this and blaming the Chiefs are crazy... IT was either incompetence by local crews or flat out on purpose...

JMO, believe what you want...

srvy 12-08-2019 03:12 PM

They would get the info as soon as it scanned as deboarded someone on a computer should see that packing crates were missing.

Maybe, on a chartered plane, it is probably different... It would be pretty easy to manipulate that aspect as well. With 32 teams in 32 cities I doubt this has ever been an issue... Why?
