Just watched it. Probably the best Star Wars entertainment I've gotten since Rogue One.
|
Yeah that was ****ing awesome...loved it.
That ending too.... |
So....
Spoiler!
|
FYI.... cool informative rundown. **SPOILERS INCLUDED: https://slate.com/culture/2019/11/th...explained.html
Spoiler!

the beskar shit made me want a mando RPG HARD
|
In the last scene the blaster light on his mask reminded me of the light on Darth Vader's mask when Palpatine was trying to kill Luke. I think they did it on purpose to convey that he was trying to decide if he was going to be good or evil in that moment.
|
That was really good all around.

And the droid seems to be on all of the marketing material, so I do wonder if this is not the last we see of him. I thought he was great. So excited...apparently episodes are being released on Friday, so there will be another one out in a couple of days. |

This guy was great in Game of Thrones and Narcos. I have no doubt that he can carry a series like this. Now that I've seen how the series is going to go, (assuming that the pilot is indicative of the quality) I'm a bit stoked to see Mexican Burt Reynolds pull this off. |
So highlights what could’ve been for this last trilogy

Boyfriend and I watched the first episode after the kiddo went to bed last night. Definitely looking forward to more. |

I really liked it. With the sole exception of Brian Posehn driving the speeder. He is an anachronism in an otherwise fantastic world.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

looks like the remnants of the empire want to clone yoda's race

I have spoken.
Nick Nolte was perfect for that |
The song played during this episode reminds me of something......
It's very similar to the theme from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". |

I also heard some notes from Karate kid. <iframe width="640" height="364" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dny0-U29Ygw?list=PLO1jrIYwnGLMD0lI-TGjJVQIXtPfE3Scw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
this ruled and I'm not overly fond of the franchise regarding their recent pictures.
This one is awesome though - Werner Herzog always belonged in the newer films / series' - Glad he's in this. Big fan of him and the Mandalorian. |
Interesting with plenty of potential. Not seeing all the love though, as it was just OK in my book. I see that it could be amazing, but that first episode is not.

this was perfect star wars in that vein |

Very similar.. |
The ending has my interest now, I'll be watching. At first it wasn't anything big, some cool moments and funny dialogue, not much you can take away from a 40 minute episode.

There was an awful lot of info dropped in the first episode of The Mandalorian, which was directed by CW and Rebels director Dave Filoni. My expectation is that the quality of each episode and subsequent season will improve drastically, just as Season 2 of The Clone Wars and Rebels were far above and beyond their respective Season 1's. Disney has a lot riding on the success of The Mandalorian, as they should after a $15 million dollar per episode budget. With Season 2 filming already in Long Beach, I'd expect that the quality will be their highest priority moving forward because they're expecting as many as 60 million subscribers by 2024. Those numbers will be difficult to attain if The Mandalorian and the subsequent Star Wars and Marvel Series don't meet the expectations of their respective audiences. |
Just a reminder for those of you fortunate enough to watch, episode 2 hits tomorrow.
|
my boss is too cheap to get Disney + for his kid so I hooked them up with a torrent today
the kid thought he was going to have to wait months to see this - he was so excited LMAO |

This is the first Star Wars live action TV show....EVER. They gambled $120 million that it would work...did you really expect they were going to gamble twice that much on something that had never been done before? This isn't like GoT where they need longer run times to cram in as much book stuff as possible. This is a five-hour movie...and when it's all said and done I'm pretty sure it will be vastly entertaining and we'll be looking forward to season two. If this works you'll get your one-hour Star Wars TV show I'm sure. But I don't really think this NEEDS to be a one show right now. It's so small and focused on one guy that they can do it just fine as it is right now. |

and I was instantly hooked. I'm really, really looking forward to what Filoni and Favreau have put together for this. |
The Bounty on the kid
Spoiler!
|
I'm liking this show so far.
Chronologically, when is this taking place in the Star Wars universe? |
5 years after Return of the Jedi. Around 25 years before The Force Awakens and the Last Jedi. Rise of Skywalker takes place a year after the first two.

I like that we're getting a Star Wars story not involving the Skywalkers, but a large part of me wants to see Darth Vader at his peak between RotS and ANH. I can't believe they haven't jumped on that yet. |

Help me! I'm getting entranced by the lore!
The Mandalorian just sounds ****ing awesome, too. Sounds like someone who'll **** your shit up.. that helmet visor thingy looks awesome but is just not practical though. |
So far this is at the same level as Rogue One IMO. Put Favreau in charge of future movies and let him pick his team.

FWIW, I heard from a very reliable source last night that the budget increased $5 million per episode for Season 2 of The Mandalorian (Season 1 clocked in at $15 million per).
So now, it'll be in the neighborhood of $20 million per episode, which puts it among the most expensive per episode series of all time. |

I’m liking it so far, I think it has some good potential.
Side note for some reason Rogue One is the only movie I’ve only seen once(and it was in theaters), I’m going to have to watch it again based on what you guys are saying. |

On a scale of 1-10, how hard did Clay schoolgirl squee during last night's episode? Myself, probably between a 7 and 8.
|
Was Boba Fett the biggest doofus in the galaxy?
|
Quote:
Sure, we’ve seen that in The Clone Wars animated series and those story arcs (led by Jon Favreau’s Pre Vizla) were always fun and as visually cool as they could be using 2009 3D animation. But seeing it in Live Action, for me anyway, was stunning. It’s pretty clear that Favreau has a true reverence for the Mandalorian people and their history, which means that this series could open the door to years of new and fresh story telling throughout the SW Galaxy. |
really nice of the mandos to respond to the main character's LFG signal so quickly after the PVP event started
Boba Fett must not have wanted to waste any little birds on Luke LMAO |

ironically enough i think i squee'd hardest at the alien in the bar dropping an 'e chuta' OG Star Wars fans know where that came from: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fT5FnpfGKdw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> and then there was this: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EKE_IU6W...jpg&name=large |
and then there was this.... LMAO

FYI, last night's episode of The Mandalorian was directed by Deborah Chow, who was recently announced as the Showrunner for the upcoming Obi Wan Kenobi series.
From this vantage point, I think that series is in good hands. |

Holy shit. That's fantastic news. I really, really want some quality Star Wars content. The universe is huge and the characters are rich. I want to believe that there are storytellers out there who are worthy of the material...and that episode kicked ass. |

That said, my bit on feminism is that, in the 60's and 70's, feminism was about liberation. Nowadays, it seems to be women playing the victim card. Are there areas that need improvement? Sure. Is there still male chauvinism? Sure. Society's not perfect. Fight the fight when it needs to be fought. I just don't think it needs to be fought over something that you can simply turn off if you don't want to watch it. All that said, going back to her initial tweet, I thought the Mandalorian making the armor was a woman. |
