Do we have to? I'm mean lets talk about kpass and mahomes and kelce and tyreek and justin houston!

Iconic 12-31-2017 10:50 PM

The only thing keeping this game from being a gimmie is their defense. It's good. And guess who's manning the ship? Dick LeBeau. You know, the guy that won two superbowls with the Steelers because of his zone blitz schemes, yeah that LeBeau.

Alex is 1-3 in his career against LeBeau led defenses.

Why Not? 01-01-2018 12:46 AM

Two outcomes that I see:

A. Chiefs roll 30-13ish.

B. Titans win an ugly "because Chuefs" game 19-15.

Titans DVOA rankings:

Offense 19th
Pass offense 22nd
Rush offense 6th

Defense 25th
Pass defense 28th
Rush defense 7th

No excuses. Alex should rape these guys.

My concern as well. I think we win this one in a limp. Defense does well against a lukewarm mariotta offense. Think our offense will stall but difference maker from last year is we sneak a few throws over the top. We should win but I don't think it'll be pretty. This was the matchup I was least excited about.

Conflict of interest. Gruden normally gets to interview players during the week and access information on preparation. He will take it to the Raiders next year.

Rausch 01-01-2018 10:45 AM

Weaknesses: The Tits have no real deep threat on offense, no ability to consistently defend the pass on any level, and a passable at best QB.

KC is streaky and inconsistent (winning record vs. winning teams and losing record vs. teams with a losing record), does not win when tallying less than 90 rushing yards, and have pass catchers that tend to drop passes at key moments.

Strengths: The titans are very good at running the ball. Most experienced coaching staff in the league. Strong front 7. Overachievers.

KC seems to always make 2 big (40 or more yards) plays a game. Dynamic offense. Best rusher in the NFL. QB has highest QB rating in the NFL. TE is 3rd most productive TE in NFL. Playing at home.

Yes, they are underestimated because they won ugly most the season, and lost 3 in a row and almost missed the playoffs. The 3 they lost, cards, niners, rams, they were in position to win all three just couldnt get it done.
Titans fans have been waiting all season for this team to put it all together and play a complete game. Could this be the week?

No. I like Jimmy G as much as the next guy but you can't point to almost beating a 6-10 team as a way to prove how scary another team is.

The Chiefs have this valuable opportunity to pull what the Giants did in 2011. Had mid-season struggles yet somehow turned around their defense to topple a bunch of giants in the playoffs down the stretch(Packers/Niners/Patriots).

KChiefs1 01-02-2018 08:43 PM

It's a win-win situation for the Chiefs.

Win: move on in the playoffs.
Loss: guarantees AS is traded.

I always root for the Chiefs to win but it's nice to know that unlike last year after a loss in the playoffs, I know the next season will be a blast.

Growing more nervous about this game by the day... if Tennessee can contain our run game, and they have a better chance than many teams, it's gonna be an ugly game. I don't think TEN scores more than 19, though.

We’re playing with house money. Alex has all the pressure to perform, and hopefully he does. If not, we’re on to the Mahomes era.

49ers recently blew out the media darling Jaguars. Jacksonville is the token "team nobody wants to play" in the AFC. Titans are nothing to laugh at, though I'm confident KC can win

I think we'll struggle to run the ball. So we'll put the ball in Alex's hands and tell him to go win a football game. He either does or doesn't.

The Titans are going to muddy this one up and try and deny our offense the field by dominating TOP. Get ready.

Quote:

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs

The slow-paced Titans average the fourth-fewest plays (60.9) and score the 18th-most points per snap. They dabbled in some no-huddle during Week 15 (36 percent) and Week 16 (15 percent), but scrapped it entirely in the season finale.

Even with their late-season tempo toe-dipping, Tennessee operates at the sixth-slowest seconds-per-snap pace. They deploy the ninth-most run-heavy offense (46 percent), and have handed off even more during the last month.

The Titans should have just enough success against Kansas City’s 24th-graded run defense to be a drain on the game’s overall play volume, but this offense is neither explosive nor efficient.

Titans are a scrappy team that have given Alex Smith and the Chiefs O some problems in recent yrs.

Their D for the most part is pretty solid.

Titans were -22 in points on the season (Bills were -57), I doubt any team has ever made the SB after giving up more points than they scored during the season.

Chiefs were +76 by the way. Never lost a game by more than 11 and won several games by a decent margin.
