I just realized what thread this is...
What the ****. Why is this even happening here? |
Quote:
It's about managing expectations for an extremely talented but extremely raw 21 year QB prospect. It's a fools errand to unequivocally state that Alex Smith will be cut and Pat Mahomess will start in 2018. The kid hasn't played a down of NFL football, has a steep mental learning curve and needs at least a full year at the training table. I can't wait until the day that Mahomes is the starter but I think it's highly unlikely that he's ready Week 1 of the 2018 season. That's just a realistic expectation. |
Damn Dane. No offense, but I truly hope you're wrong here and he is ready in 2018.
Waiting 2 more years will feel like 10. |

Tyler Bray, who's never had a regular season snap, in practice or a game, will be a free agent and has shown nothing. Joel Stave, another UDFA, sits behind him currently. It's really difficult for me to believe that Dorsey and Reid head into 2018 with an entirely new QB depth chart and room, especially considering that WCO QB's (and QB's in general) are difficult to find. |
I sure would like to see Bray play, just for shits and giggles. You never know.
|
Kareem Hunt is offended how "his" thread has regressed into this shit.

That's an average inside the 25 yard line. WORSE than what you would get if you took a knee every kick off. There lies the problem in allowing the other team to drain the clock and score 6 field goals, you aren't left with shit to do work on the field when the other team has almost an entire extra quarter to hold the ball. |

I've already stated it plain as day, and while we dont know for sure, its a good rule of thumb to go by... Brett Favre started in Green Bay with FAR less preparation than Mahomes will have if he starts in 2018 Why would Mahomes be any different? He is being asked to learn football verbiage, not rocket science 'Oh but footwork, and hey mechanics!"... thats absolute nonsense If a young, scatterbrained beer chugger like Favre can pick up the WCO enough to successfully start in less than a year with hands on guidance from a coach who knows what he is doing... then so can Mahomes, end of story In spite of your best efforts, Smith is GONE in 2018... bet on it |
Quote:
 You admitted that you knew nothing about Mahomes until post draft yet you're on board with Mahomes starting in 2018 while cutting Smith? This team has the LUXURY of not rushing Mahomes into action. Why wouldn't Reid and Dorsey take advantage of the situation instead of forcing a guy on the field that isn't ready? |
Comparing Favre and Mahomes' situation like these are identical situation is both stupid and ignorant. Knock it off. Kelce/Reid/Dorsey all have recently said this is Smith's team. Get used to it and shut the hell up or come back when he's not the starter.

5 yards on average. That's not as huge as you are acting. |
In your eye it's not huge but for Andy Reid and coaching staff, that's telling that the defense couldn't force punts and the other team was able to force kickoffs. Not exactly the situation you want when your biggest weapon is a punt returning specialist.
Would you not agree? ..... |

And if there actually existed Chase Daniel apologists, why would they also be Aaron Murray fans? Aaron Murray was Daniel's ONLY ****ing real competition for the backup job in the 3 years he was in KC, and that's if you could even call it a competition. You're making up shit to make yourself look like a victim again. |

He's pretty ****ing pissed. I don't think he will show up for training camp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thats doable in one offseason, let alone two His physical upside is too great, and the cap savings involved are too big to not start him in 2018... I'm not worried about leadership, or who is gonna be the backup Our regime will have that well in hand Mahomes will start in 2018, if we disagree well it wouldnt be the first time... they're just not gonna burn 2 years of his rookie contract to watch him sit around IMO |
Quote:
More speculation from a guy that's watched Mahomes videos for 2 weeks. And FWIW, giving up a 3rd round pick, when he had TWO this year, along a a 1st next year is a BARGAIN. The dopey Bears gave up FAR more to move up one spot. The 49ers gave up more to move up three spots. The cost was minimal to get a potential 10 year player that doesn't need to be called into action for 2 years. You're talking out of your ass. |
Quote:
This is Smith's team... for one more damn year. The odds are strongly in favor of this being his swan song and you just can't f**king take it. You probably lose sleep at night trying to think of reasons why Alex Smith could be the starter in 2018... and you know deep down that there are a hell of a lot more reasons for him NOT to be the guy then there are for him to remain in '18. |
Quote:
We'll settle up then I guess |
Danes right Mahomes doesnt need to play for 2 years.
|
Quote:
Now shut the **** up and come back when they take back their words... this is Smiffs last rodeo, suck on it |

For the love of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I came to this thread to read what was being said about Kareem Hunt. The front page is nothing but Alex Smith arguing. I don't give a damn if Smith goes or stays at this point. Take your worn out arguments to an Alex Smith thread please. :cuss:

You are reading way too far into a tweet. Kelce was the leading TE last season and he said just last week in his interview it is not Smith's team. There has not been a single person on staff that has said or speculated they are ready to move on from Smith. John Dorsey was raving about Smith being the 4th winningest QB. He is in no rush to put in Mahomes so long as Alex keeps doing his thing
|
TU.. they are right. If you must continue this "no he won't/yes, he will" same old back and forth... why do so in this thread????? :shake:
edit: comments moved to this thread now, good. |

Also Andy Reid publicly stated that Donovan Mcnabb would be the starter the next season. That was a couple MONTHS prior to trading him to an in division rival. Maybe you need to pump YOUR brakes a little and realize right now it's probably better than 50-50 that Smith is gone next year. And if not mahomes hasn't progressed like they had hoped, IMO. precedent (mcnabb), cost (picks, money saved) potential(obvious imo) and timing all come together here. Maybe their plan (at least what looks to be their plan to someone with common sense) doesnt work out, but at this point most things are pointing to the hope being he's ready to roll next year. I'm hoping Alex Smith retires, #1 so I don't have to worry about a couple of you guys killing yourselves. |

Quote:
I am expecting retirement, because I like him, and prefer it be his choice to ail off into the sunset.. to be healthy for his family and future. It's the smart and unselfish move, imho. If it goes the other way, and it's more him getting booted out for cap hit being too much for production? Hey... marginal sadness for him, but hopefully it will be the catalyst for exactly what I want in the first place. (retirement and health) Why some of you hate him or the fans so much to make this some dramatic kick to the curb? Well that's just a continuation of being classless, petty, spiteful... and ungrateful that he helped to bring respectability back to KC for 5 years. |
Quote:
If he gets cut I would seriously worry about tiger's mental state, I'm not sure he could take it. |

Quote:
What about me saying I hoped alex retires so some don't kill themselves makes you say that? I didn't mention you, or even think about you, sad face, so why are you butt hurt over it? Did the point hit you in the feels? |

That first gif is a TERRIBLE ****ing throw. I would delete it immediately if you are trying to make a point about Alex being acceptable.
|
He's under NO pressure by the looks of it and throws it so Wilson had to go to the ground, he made it a much harder catch

Just trust Dorsey and Reid FFS.
If Mahomes is out there Day 1 it's the right move, if he is out there year 3 (gulp) it will be the right move. |

Tiger, who are the Chase Daniel apologists? You never answered my question.
I want names. |

F**king moron. If Alex keeps doing 'his thing', that isn't good at all for him or the team. He needs to play aggressively for 4 quarters, every game. That is his only hope of putting together a season worthy of keeping him around in '18. |

Alex Smith fans are just the weirdest and the worst. Dude has never lead a top offense, despite playing with some elite defenses and some very productive rush offenses. Who effing cares about efficiency? Points are what win games and Alex has never been able to produce points. Alex's main attribute is not turning the ball over- that's it. Alex typically faffs about for sixty minutes trying not to eff-up and waiting for his defense and rush attack to win the game. I hated that trade from day one and I can't wait until that mothereffer is gone.
I wonder if there were any Jeff Garcia superfans back in the day... following him about and crowing about his pro bowl appearances and all the times he lead a team to the playoffs. You people are weird. Really, really weird. |
Uhhh... why is this showing up as a thread I created? I didnt start this thread
Its even showing up in my list of started threads, and I damn sure didnt make it... the op is a post I made in someone elses thread |

Unless Dorsey is lying thru this teeth when he's raving about Smith being the 4th winningest QB since joining the franchise. Where do we get these noobs? Did you even earn your GED, kid? |

Didnt need moved at all, but whatever gets you guys off |
Wont have anything to do with Alex. When the running game was on in 14' we won like 5 in a row and 11 in 15'. If Hunt is the real deal and Houson is healthy this team can compete with anybody sans New England.
