I'm all for honoring Dave by changing the name of the Lounge but I'd prefer to that his original user name, BigChiefDave, be used instead of his current name, which only came into being after his cancer diagnosis.

Thank you everybody for donating to the GoFundMe. I'm amazed that I've raised almost $1,000. I can't thank you all enough.

Just got a text from Reerun_KC (he's banned). He said he's sorry to hear the news about Dave. He matched my donation.
He also proceeded to talk trash on me, but that's nothing new and I won't post that here. :D |

I've had a few interactions with Big Dave, all positive and very sorry Nick for your loss. Lost my father to Cancer. I'd like to make a donation within the next few days and I've shared it on my Facebook. Rest Easy Dave

Obviously didn't know him personally, but he seemed like one of the good guys here at CP. Always enjoyed what he had to say. I was always dreading this a thread like this when we all heard he had been diagnosed. He is definitely in our thoughts and best wishes to you and your family.
|
Hang in there Dave. All the best to you and your family. I renamed the lounge on your behalf buddy.
:( |
Damn. I had a few interactions with him, he always seemed like a pretty good guy. He'll be missed around here. I'll hit the go fund me acct. on payday.
|
:sulk:Terrible news
|
I have always been impressed with the way Dave handled this. GBM is a tough diagnosis, but he never showed any sign of weakness here, and I doubt he ever did in real life either. He seemed to have a quiet courage and peace about him even as he faced down the longest of odds. I hope that if I ever am dealt something like this I could face it as well as Dave has.
|
I'm going to throw this out as an option because I am somewhat familiar with what they do:
http://medcure.org/ You can look through their website and decide if this is something you want to consider. This a free service. |
Dave,
It's been an honor to know you, even if it's just through our interactions on this message board. We laughed at the victories and seethed in the defeats. But in the end none of them matter when somebody who has grown into a friend has the sun set too early on his life. I'll miss you Dave. May you travel quickly, and painlessly into the next life my friend. May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. May songbirds serenade you every step along the way. May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue. And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through. |

I've been thinking about ya all day, Dave... so glad to have spent time with you here
If there is any possible chance to check in with us again, it would be so, So, SO awesome... God bless you David Davis |
Godspeed great poster. I hope we meet up in the next life.
|
Very sorry to hear it.
I just got back from our 3rd family funeral visitation in 8 days. 2 were cancer including a 38 year old cousin. Cancer is an asshole. |
So sorry to hear this. He's always been a lot of fun to chat with. Seems like a great fella in real life too from what I've read. Never had the pleasure to meet him. May God bless him and all his loved ones through his journey home. From my experience with a couple grandparents hospice folks are great. I pray that they make him as comfortable as possible.
Be proud of yourself young man. I know your dad is!! My grandpa was like my dad to and I watched as he went through this. It isn't the same, he was about 40 years older than your dad. Can't say I know exactly what your going through just that I can relate in a small way. Make sure you lean on your loved ones. There is plenty of folks here to lend an ear so don't hesitate to ask. Take care young man |
No.
Damnit. |
Time is the one thing that none of us will ever have enough of! Know the impact that you've had in many lives both online and in life. We may lose the ability to add new memories, but we shall always treasure the old ones. Godspeed on your journey, you will be missed.

The planet has raised about $900 in one day. I couldn't thank you all enough. This brings a great weight lifted off my shoulders when 2 days ago, the family was anxious on how we were gonna afford all of this. If we have 6 more days like today has gone, we will have the goal. I told my dad that the planet is helping raise the money and he thanked everybody. The hardest part is him not knowing why I am trying to raise it in the first place. Cancer Sucks. Keep sharing and donating. Thank you all. Go Chiefs.
|
I am very sorry to hear this he was one of my favorite people here. I just hope he doesn't have any pain and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
|
Light our way, fellow traveler. We won't be very long behind.
|
Wow, sorry to hear this, I'll miss your dad.....he was a great guy.
|
Cancer sucks. Godspeed, my friend.
|
I've been thinking about what to say here about this, and I'm still at a loss for words.
So, I'll just say that I'm praying for comfort for you and your family. Dave always seemed like a good guy, even though I don't think I ever interacted with him on a personal level. He is one of the Planet's originals and will be missed. God Bless. |

We will keep reminding the Planet to help out about the upcoming debt you will have. Stick around yourself and talk some football and life when you feel like it in the future. :thumb: |
I didn't know Dave personally but he seemed like a decent guy. Prayers for him and your family to help you get through this difficult time.

Damn. Not really sure what else to say.
Question...gofundme apparently doesn't take PayPal. Anyone know a way around that? |

Before cancer got my mom she had a few good "rallies" in the hospital. It hurt to say goodbye but was great to see her still fighting it. Cancer sucks so much ass. Praying for no pain for Dave and peace for you and his family.
|
Ahh damn. Tell BigmeatballDave we love him too.
Damn, what a bummer. |

I lost my brother 2 years ago to GBM. He was 30, like Dave, way too young.

She lived in a nursing home for a couple of years before she passed and I visited her once after she moved in. I never went back. I felt a bit guilty about that afterwards, but to me, that was not my grandmother lying in that bed. |

We will miss you Dave :(
****ing Chiefs. All the NFL owners only care about money and we're all here putting all our emotions into a football team and they don't even legitimately try their best to win a Super Bowl for their fans. I'm in the same boat. I'm sorry you never got to enjoy a Chiefs Super Bowl. |
This put life into prospective. Dave I'm sorry you have to go thru this but know that your family online and in real life love you may god hug you in the kingdom of heaven and may he embrace your family and us on chiefs planet on these hours of grief.
Also **** cancer right in the ass! |
:shake: Wow, just lost for words, so sad to hear this Nick, Dave is a great guy. He and I had several stories to tell of our days as truck drivers. Heaven is getting a great guy, the world is losing a great guy. May God bless you, the family and Dave during these trouble times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I'll see what funds I can send at the end of the week.
Tell Dave hello and that not only are his CP friends thinking of him but that we will miss him on here. Let him know that he has one more load to deliver, safely, over on the other side. Gods speed my friend. :( |
Thank you for the help everybody. Please don't forget to keep donation and share to anything you can. I've hit a wall in donations.
|
Really sorry to read about this. We lose too many good people to Cancer.
|
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family, Nick. Your dad was one of the good ones.
