Does Luck miss a wide open Davis down field late in the 2nd half? Check down late in the game?

I don't think Alex Smith misses a wide open DAVIS.

But, then again, he missed slower, seldom used Cyrus Gray who appears to of let up just a little bit.

Timing.

Shrugs.

Yeah, it's too bad Smith completely shit his pants on 2nd down and put the offense in a 3rd and 17 situation.

44 points, the man was ON FIRE.

He was not on fire the last 27 minutes of the game. We scored 6 points and 3 of those were off an interception where the offense gained 4 yards in the drive. The offense disappeared in the 2nd half. We didn't need the offense to be great in that last 27 minutes but we needed more than 6 points.

Which team won the game, btw?

Colts? They must have won on the back of their RB...

The reason Alex failed tonight was at the end of the game, when you have your last possession, the great QB's don't get an intentional grounding with a loss of down to put their team into near impossible situations.

Alex Smith will not ever be Andrew Luck. But very few will. If that's what you want, you genuinely need to go become a Colts fan... because that's the only choice. There isn't another one of him coming down the pipeline. He is a robot pretty much built to play QB. Some of those throws he made today were all-universe. Rodgers is the only other guy who could do that.

This is such a ridiculous stance. Smith played his best game as a Chief, probably the best game of his career. However, he still made mistakes that cost this team the game. Wanna blame the defense? Fine. It's not like that defense has been any good since week ten. The offense knew they had to overcome it, and they didn't. And that sits squarely on the QB's shoulders.

Alex played his first good game as a Chief IMO, and playing great until that fumble inside the 25. The NFL isn't about Defense anymore it's about "fastbreak" football and you got to win those against the best QBs in the NFL.

If both Brown and Richardson were down and out at some point in the game, you might have an argument.

If we forget for a second who is at QB, if you objectively look at a final score of 45-44 are you really going to look at the offense when defining reasons for defeat? I think there are too many people fixated on winning a QB argument and overlooking the big picture of what the real problem was in this game.
