I don't really see why what teams have done int he past have anything to do with whether the conference was upgraded for the future.

I don't know if this was mentioned in the prior thread or not, but Max Scherzer won the AL Cy Young award this year by a wide margin.

Max was the only 20 game winner in the majors this year, and also the only starting pitcher to allow less than 1 baserunner per inning. His 13 game winning streak to start the season was the best since Roger Clemens in 1986.

Baseball is also a secondary collegiate sport, but I think this is worthy of inclusion here as well.

Mizzou beat several ranked teams this year. Of course, beating them helped to push them out of the rankings, but I'm not sure how you can fault MU for that.
