Yeah. Troi would totally be able to sense if you were thinking about other women during sex. That could get annoying because then you'd have to talk about it and tell her "No, no, no, it's not you... yes, I'm sure..."

This. I didn't like Troi either - the character or the actress.

I watched the first few seasons of TNG but eventually lost interest. There were way too many fluff episodes (anything centered around the friggin' holodeck). I much preferred the grittiness of TOS and even Enterprise.

never has a television character had to endure so much quid pro quo harrassment.

Rausch 03-17-2011 07:49 AM

I liked the one where (I think) Q sends Picard's ass backward in time and he has to relive a bunch of moments in his youth (ending up in him getting stabbed or shot in a bar fight.)

The other Borg stuff was good as well.

I probably would have picked Uhura at 40 over her...

TNG is an excellent cure for insomnia.

loochy 03-17-2011 08:17 AM

This will be a pretty standard answer, especially for a dedicated TNG fan like myself.

The Best of Both Worlds
All Good Things
Yesterday's Enterprise
Descent (Data, Lore, and the Borg)
Emergence (they get on the train to New Vertiform City)
Phantasms (Data's funny dreams)
Parallels (Worf travels to alternate realities)
Chain of Command (Picard gets captured by the Cardassians)

Aries Walker 03-17-2011 08:17 AM

My number one is still when the Roga Danar, the ex-soldier, rebels against his colony and basically takes over the whole ship solo.

I remember the character, but not the episode. Go figure.

And Wrath of Khan is the best movie.

I think my favorite was the one where Worf wakes up and he's suddenly the captain and Troi is his wife. That or the groundhog day one where they keep playing the same poker game. Darmok is up there too. It's hard to pick just one.

The one where he plays the flute. Some of the best tv ever done.

Picard clutching that flute to his chest at the end of the episode and starting to play it, was very powerful TV. His acting chops certaintly helped.

Yes, Inner Light is absolutely at the top along with a very small handful of others, most of which have been mentioned.

One I haven't seen mentioned, which is only a half-notch below, I think, is the one where the Romulan Admiral is set up by the Romulans to betray his people, defects to the Enterprise, tells them about some invasion, and when Enterprise goes to investigate, it turns out to be a trap, and the Admiral had been duped all along.

Defector is the name of the episode, IIRC.

Donger 03-17-2011 08:42 AM

Pretty much all of them excluding the ones with Troi as the main plot.

BigCatDaddy 03-17-2011 08:47 AM

Anything with

Data kicking ass (Especially the one where he captains the ship that catches Yarr's daughter trying to run the barricade)
Q showing up
Seperating the saucer section is required

GoChiefs, your mission is to find either pictures or a movie of Troi. The specific scene is from the episode where some creepy ambassador comes aboard with his old, crazy "mother." Turns out that he uses women and makes them age, or something. The mother dies and he turns on Troi. She starts going crazy and picks up some young crew member in a turbolift, and takes him back to her cabin to hump him. Riker knocks on her door and she opens it wearing something naughty.

Make it so.

If you haven't seen DS9 start on it now. It's better than TNG and gets really episodic and dramatic in the last 3 seasons. It's Michael Dorn's best work.

I've done this too. Did it with Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond. I plan to do it with the X-Files (I've seen one season, have them all on DVD) and I should probably do it with Babylon 5 and Stargate Atlantis.

I just watched the X-Files for the first time a couple years ago. I enjoyed it a lot. It doesn't get good until the story threads start, around season 2 or 3. It also goes widescreen in season 5 or 6 I think.

I can't really pick a favorite episode. There is one that stands out in my mind though. I thought the show was crap that first season. It looked like "These are the surrenders of the Starship Enterprise..." and I was bummed out but tried to watch. Finally at one point Picard and Riker have to go back to Starfleet because the brain worms have infiltrated leadership and they find that the highest level of command has been compromised. There is a scene where they realize that a group of infected officers are running a puppet Star Fleet. They just look at each other, then KILL IT WITH FIRE! I loved that. I started watching with more interest after that episode and the show did get much better.

If I remember correctly, she was sort-of topless. A flimsy half-shirt, or something, while she's beating Reggie Love with a baseball bat.

She was originally envisioned to be like the tough marine chick from Aliens. She didn't quite live up to that, and Worf became much cooler, and then Denise Crosby started bitching about her role, and before you know it she gets worthlessly offed by a pile of black pudding.

Yeah, I spent a few hours in front of that show as a kid.

She's in two scenes. The first one she wears an almost tank top like shirt, the other scene she's topless but mostly seen from the back. I should still have the movie on my media center. I will see if I can grab some screen caps tonight.

Tasha was one of the weakest characters on the show. It was the right decision to kill her off.

TNG is superior to DS9 overall, but the last episodes of DS9 are fantastic.

"In the Pale Moonlight" is some of the best 45 minutes of TV I have seen, and IMO is the equal of the best TNG episodes.
