and they still have to pay big money as it is iirc

I'm pretty sure that the $25million for the television contract plus the $10million for the research grant would more than outweigh the buyout.

Congratulations, KU fan. You are officially Memphis the moment this happens.

Because it's pertinent news, puppy-boy.

there is a very good chance that this move is the start of a complete change in the landscape of college sports.

It could be ANY 2 Big 12 schools and i would be posting about it the same way.

Her boyfriend is dumping her for a prettier, thinner girl. It's only natural that she'll try to convince herself that she's too good for him anyway.

It's going to be awkward if we bump into each other at Arrowhead. We'll have to make small talk, and she'll have to act strong in front of us. As soon as we leave, she'll swallow a bottle of Tylenol in a cry for attention, and her friends Iowa State and KSU will have to talk her off the ledge.

Yes, as long as the Chiefs continue to play in Missouri, there's a pretty good chance we won't be going away.

It will be pretty weird though, if you're looking at possible conference matchups like Mizzou at Syracuse, or Nebraska vs. Rutgers.

Again, I'm pretty sure they don't HAVE TO do anything. There is no law on the books that says that Missouri goes to jail if they leave the Big XII in a lurch. They may have to pay some money to the conference for being in breach of the contract, but that will pale in comparison to the revenue that will be gained in a single year by joining the Big 10.

Sorry dude. I know Mizzou gave you a promise ring, but there will be no wedding.

Not really, conferences like the Big 10 and Pac 10 slot their bowl games by conference standing. The Big 12 does not. It is another issue of the conference not looking out for ALL its members.

ROYC75 04-30-2010 10:12 PM

Like I mention in the other thread, it's crazy, but why not. Combine the B10 & B12 , grab 1 more teams, have 4 divisions, play twice within and rotate the other 3 divisions in games .

Call it the Midwest Athletic Conf 24 ( MAC-24 ) Basketball you will have 16 games, Football you will have 11 league games. The four divisions winners play off for your championship at the end of the season.

It's crazy, but why not, it's getting crazy anyways.

Yeah, Kansas is one big metropolis, and Missouri is just farmland.

The biggest cities in Kansas are suburbs of a city in Missouri. That's all you need to know about who's the lead dog and who just looks at the lead dog's asshole all day every day.

this is true, it does reflect yet another way the Big 12 sucks but it's not like this is about any particular school.

one year KSU gets screwed and the next it's MU etc,etc

Big 12 doesn't have any Bowl structure because they know that texas will get a bowl no matter what and the rest of us can float or sink whenever.

Another thing is that most Big 12 bowls are in Texas & they always pick Texas schools over someone else because they are looking at attendance instead of choosing the best teams. No other conference does this either!

Big 10 Bowls > Big 12 Bowls

If the Tigers join the Big 10, the local providers will all add it. Hell, I've got AT&T, and they already have the network.

Sure-Oz 04-30-2010 10:42 PM

I assume those of us with Dish and a sports package (local etc) and over 120 channels will automatically get the big 10 network once mizzou is part of that? I assume it would be something thats part of dish once they figure out missouri is a big 10 state when that is finalized?

Edit:Thanks Laz and Saul Good it looks like i'll have it since i've already got a package that should include it for free. Just gotta wait for it to be final, sweet!

I'm right smack in the middle of Big 10 hell here in the Chicago area. I already get the Big 10 channel. I'm an hour from Evanston and two hours from Champaign. This is so ****ing awesome for me on every level, I can't even believe that it looks like it's really going to happen.

Look at all the butt****ery we've been victims of over the years. The five down game. The kicked ball game. It takes years, but we finally get good, and then every year a less deserving team THAT WE ****ING BEAT gets a better bowl than us while Beebe does nothing but suck off Texas.

Well the post of yours I originally quoted made it sound like Nebraska was continually getting games they didn't deserve, and when I questioned that you guys named one. That's hardly a trend. And the reason NU got the bid is because their fans travel well, you guys don't really have anyone to blame but yourselves for that.

No, we can blame the conference. Our conference does not slow bowl games while other conferences do. I can post this another 30 times, but I don't think it would sink in.

Hey I'm not saying you guys didn't get screwed, I'm just saying there isn't any pattern of NU benefiting. That's what Beer Bacon implied in the original post I responded to.

Heh, is everyone ready for some serious conference musical chairs? Because if this actually goes down its going to be a feeding frenzy. For speculation purposes don't forget that the Pac-10 is only going to add pairs of school that are geographically close together. And they have to all approve adding a school so pretty much forget BYU. Also its not like the bowl slotting isn't screwed up in other conferences, ask Oregon State how they felt about going from playing Oregon for the Rose Bowl to playing in the Las Vegas Bowl.

You don't think the more prestigious programs in the conference benefit from the way the Big 12 allows bowl games to be doled out? Really?

I don't blame Nebraska. I blame the cocksucking Texas sycophants that run this disgrace of a conference. And that's why we're leaving.
