Nope Pioli and any of these guys that are just Cordinators like Spags for just a few years.

Pioli and pretty much any ex coach will be good or great.
No to Spags,no to Schwartz

yes to Rat,Marty,Cowher,Mariucci and Gruden!!

Shannahan, Marty or Gruden all over Schwartz or Spagnuolo? Schwartz has had pretty much a top ten defense the whole time he has been the DC in Tennessee(obviously he is no longer an option). But, why so anti Spagnuolo? I would take him over Marty or Gruden, still not sure what I think about the Rat though.

I like the idea of Shanahan as the Head Coach, I just didn't want him, if he was going to be calling the shots on player personnel.

With Pioli on board, that ain't happening.

The Kansas City Cheats!

Hey Shanny could bring his cooking spray and dangerous blocking schemes, teach us a thing or two about cheating on the salary cap that he learned in Denver, and with Pioli who came from the team that illegally spied on opponents, we really could have the Patriots Way right here in Kansas City. How exciting. Outlaws, just like in the old west! Call us the Kansas City Cheats!

Shanny would be incredible but we have no real reason to think they have talked or if Shanny would even take the job nor do we have a reason to think Super Scott wants him.

Herm is still the coach.

No, he was a better coach when, and it pains me to admir it, when he had probably had one of the top 2 QB's of all time, and lucked out in putting together a pretty formidable defense- which he hasn't been able to replace either sufficiently since.. Still a good HC but needs help in personnal decisions ...

when his GM got him that great QB

how do we determine who lucks out and who doesn't?

he hasn't replace either because he's been GM and he's a better coach than personnel guy.

exactly he needs help with personnel decisions like Pioli would provide here.

Agent V 01-16-2009 06:42 PM

Anyway, if this is true (none of know, really), what do you think about the quarterback situation? I love the idea of Shanny developing a rookie. Which one, I haven't a clue.

the Talking Can 01-16-2009 06:42 PM

anyways, back on topic

shanahan is a good coach, but imo he is burnt out...he has been flailing for years but his rep kept people from calling him out...

plus, he may say he doesn't want power...but after a year or two he'll be right back in the owners ear...people that age don't change...

but hey, there are certainly worse options..

kysirsoze 01-16-2009 06:43 PM

With the power of the Pats and Donkeys combined, the Chiefs are going to be the cheatingest team this league has ever seen!!!

Oh, you're absolutely right. I mean, I like to think a new setting and situation would benefit a seasoned coach who seems to have lost a bit of his ability. I can't say that for sure though, too many variables.

Because he is a good coach and would be a good fit here. Also, add to the fact he is one of the best guys out there who has a proven track record of winning in the league. Hes got the experience no doubt with championships to add to that.

There is talent on the offensive side of the ball it's just too bad it's being wasted by our current lame duck coach. I actually think KC is a great situation for Shanahan. It would be great for Tyler Thigpen a young QB who needs a coach who knows how to handle young QB's. And imo what better guy to have then Shanahan? There are RB's on this roster in Charles and Smith whom imo can be excellent cutback runners which would suit a Shanahan style of offense that emphasizes a lot on misdirection plays.

There are good receivers on this team in Gonzalez in Bowe. Shanny knows how 2 make average offensive lineman into pretty good ones. And the Chiefs have 2 good Offensive in Albert and Waters. If he was hired as the new HC here the offense would improve dramatically.

My only knock on him is defense. He hasn't really had good defenses. But, I think with Pioli, and a good DC around him that may just mask his weakness.

I'd take the rat over any "retread" coach out there..especially Gruden

i still think he needs a year off to recharge and reflect, his personnel decisions have been just brutal for awhile in relation to his perceived talent as a coach...

i'd still prefer to roll the dice on our own coach...but if Pioli thinks he can bromance with the rat, well, ok, i guess...
