I much prefer this to Dan Moore, who you know is like the 24th best left tackle. May be more to tap into with Jaylon.

Draft is going to be defense heavy.

We will upgrade at RB, Veach said he’s always going to find ways to upgrade weapons for Pat.

Based on what little I know of him, it seems like a solid move.

SHOWTIME 03-10-2025 10:11 AM

He came in and did some great spot duty for 49ers in backing up Trent Williams

12 career starts at 27 years old…swing tackle….

Had to get someone but I’m in total wait and see mode, not exactly hyped…

Moore and Kingsley on the left side….yeesh.

How are you all getting this news when Twitter is down? Pat mcAfee just said on his show a lot of fake news going around

PHOG 03-10-2025 10:13 AM

So, besides Mahomes, who is getting restructured?

staylor26 03-10-2025 10:13 AM

Nice. I'm just happy LT is addressed immediately with a young ascending player.

Would've liked to have seen more term but I understand why he may have been reluctant to do so.

Seems like we're taking all the risk here paying him like a starting LT without him having proven that he is one, but that's just the nature of FA.

Buys us a little time.

It feels like Veach is having a hard staggered timeline with our signed players and when they are receiving their big cap hits.

2025-2027
Chris Jones
Jaylon Moore
Nick Bolton
Trey Smith
Creed Humphrey

2028 and beyond
Rashee Rice

Yep - I see a RB at pick 63 or 66...or packaging those picks to get a guy.

TwistedChief 03-10-2025 10:13 AM

Solid move. This is what we needed. The vision comes together.

i mean... the plus side is when he did play in SF he looked good.

the problem is he didn't play a whole lot at all. it's definitely a gamble but i'd honestly rather this than overpay for some scrub who will hamstring us for the next 5 years.

at minimum he provides a baseline which is something i think reid can work with. im fine with it all things considered.

The opportunity in front of him is absolutely insane.

I mean if Williams doesn't go down last year, he's probably going to be bouncing around looking for a 1 year deal as a backup somewhere.

Now he's looking at being one of the most publicly scrutinized OTs in the league as Mahomes blind-side protector. And if he does that at an average or better level, he's in a position to cash in massively for the next 3-5 years thereafter.

I mean if that kid isn't busing his ass this off-season, he's not paying attention. This isn't the end for him - this is a beginning and it's the sort of thing that could bring him a $100 million contract someday fairly easily.
