Veach is making sure that Danna’s not his only draft pick that’s resigned. ****

Wait...I though BV said FA was going to be theitr draft this year?

Pretty clear that the Chiefs have very little confidence in last year’s second round pick

tyton75 02-27-2025 01:23 PM

I love Trey and I'm glad he's staying, but man; that is a TON of money tied up in an O-line that doesn't have a LT

ChiefsHawk 02-27-2025 01:24 PM

Mahomes going to redo his contract and have a 1.5 mil cap hit...

That's a $23M cap hit right at the start of free agency.

Terrible FA class. Nobody worth paying in the 1st wave anyway

If there was ever a year to do this it’s this year

ROFL

The task is a little different this year than most. They're playing catch-up with an Eagles roster that is obviously far better.

crispystl 02-27-2025 01:27 PM

Any chance it's to trade him? (I'm not exactly sure how all of that works)

People prob wouldn’t care as much if we didn’t have beef slop at LT

KC_Connection 02-27-2025 01:29 PM

Wouldn't surprise me if this is a result of them thinking Kingsley is just a total bust.

Hammock Parties 02-27-2025 01:31 PM

stand down fellas, mahomes gets what he wants

One of two real outcomes here

Most likely: they found out ____ team was willing to pay more money and Trey would take it, so they paint him into a corner of accepting their deal instead potentially

or

Less likely: he doesn't want to accept their deal now and they decide to trade him

No, that's not clear at all. What's clear is that they aren't confident they can get a long term answer at LT through FA or the draft, and they probably don't want to lose Smith for a short term answer.

They could just as easily want Kingsley to compete at LT, or they want him to replace Thuney next year at LG (where he played week 18).

Rexx 02-27-2025 01:32 PM

Paying 60 mil for the interior of the line is suspect considering they just got rolled in the SB....but I'll trust Veach knows what he is doing.

staylor26 02-27-2025 01:33 PM

Hell, I said it before, but it's entirely possible that Thuney is considering retirement.
