Yeah, from what I read, reckless driving that ends in injury can sometimes be classified as assault. I have no interest in trying to get into the legalese of the conditions for it, but it's a thing.

Maybe what they'll plea down to? Potentially some sort of lesser included? No idea - perhaps that's an aggravating factor for a sort of vehicular assault charge so they're folded into that? Essentially recharacterizing the leaving the scene into a wanton disregard sort of thing that leads to the aggravated assault?
