The defense lost this shit tonight.
I'm so sick of seeing them get gashed time and again.

If its within our 20 yard line, you may as well put 6 on the scoreboard for the other team.

KC_Connection 09-19-2021 11:32 PM

The interception had no real impact on anything given that it was 3rd down and they would have punted had he taken the sack. That was 40 yards sure, but the Ravens had no problem moving the ball at will in this game.

The issue was the defense and the play calling. Same as ever.

Definitely not on anything but passing downs. He was clueless and often confused.

I think they figured this out at the end because he was not playing in clear rushing downs.

That being said, we're going to lose some games. If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that we'll lose one game, it will be against Baltimore, by one point, in the beginning of the season, on the back of a Mahomes int and a CEH fumble; I'd tell you we got worse problems.

I'll take this over the random shellacking against an 0-16 Jets.

I would add that those penalties were different than the one he was whistled for in the Super Bowl. In that one, he initiated contact with Evans and prevented him from making a play on the football. But tonight, in each case, the contact had almost none, if any effect on the receiver. Edit, I know this is not related and old, but I thought the other penalties in that game were garbage. On the first one, he may have held a bit, but the receiver slipped. The contact on the INT was within five yards and he released the receiver after the five yards. On the deep pass, their feet got tangled if you watch the replay

Any given Sunday ... . You can lose to any team, if you keep playing close games. We almost lost to the Lions last year. Look, this talk about 20-0 is nonsense. We are going to lose 3-5 games this year due to bad luck, turnovers, injuries, or just taking a win for granted. This is but one.

We will definitely get into the playoffs. We may not get the #1 seed, but we can win it all anyway. We have 15 weeks to figure out how to stop the Baltimore running game in the playoffs because our defense was clueless tonight.

Good read George. Thanks. You always pull perspective on these which typically I don’t have and just want to focus on a few things from the game.

I’m not sure I want to crush Reid for running the ball because he’s been crushed ad naseam for not running the ball. I won’t cry if Mahomes has the ball on that play but it’s not an intergalactically stupid move to run the ball there.

It is intergalactically stupid to ****ing fumble the ball there. ****.

They were. I was mad. That being said the penalty on their 2 point was weak. Lots of bad calls this week. All of which are infuriating.

Complacency finally got us tonight. For too long we've played with our food for 2.5 quarters before turning on the jets.

We're going to be every other teams Super Bowl for the foreseeable future. If we want to be a dynasty, there's a level of professionalism I think the team can learn from watching how Brady operates.

Well said. Ravens played pretty well compared to the way they did against the Faid. But it’s looking like division games are going to be tough, so we need to strap in and deliver the payload every week.

New here, what does the triangular sign mean?

Report posts. Don’t do it unless it’s a bot. Moderation here has a pretty light touch.

Against Jackson, yeah. Against traditional passers I like him out there.

Thanks for posting the review Gus!

I always look forward to your game recaps, even when we pull an "Andy"...

Great read George.

I thought Jones was awful too but The Franchise said that the Ravens schemed him out of the game.

Has to be true if The Franchise says it.

It could not be challenged. All turnovers are automatically reviewed...so the replay ref in NY screwed the pooch on that one. I thought he was down as well.

That experiment has failed badly and time to pull the plug. :harumph:

The flag on the sack was pure phantom. Could've played drums for the Stray Cats.

Well, it's the next morning...and I'm a bit salty but I'm OK. Great points as always George. Last night was...one of those games. We get them every year. Coulda woulda shoulda, stupid penalties or a fumble or whatever and the game flips.

Defense is my biggest concern. I know Jackson is a running fool, but he didn't really have some spectacular run that blew your mind (that I remember anyway). He just kept getting the edge and our guys took shitty angles and he got his yards. Really not a spectacular night for him IMO, but he had a ton of yards.

Just a shitty game for the Chiefs and we still almost won in the end...CEH fumble was the back breaker. Hopefully this will be a turning point for him, cuz he's really just been JAG to this point.

I believe that may be a part of it. If there is such thing as a good loss, this might be it. Let’s see how the team responds…

I do believe we ran into a buzz saw with Jackson last night. I gotta give it to him. He carried his team on his back last night. He was tired of hearing about his “kryptonite”

That, and let's face it, all these streaks come to an end eventually. Never lost a September game...sooner or later that will happen. Never lost to Lamar...sooner or later that's gonna happen.

Get those monkeys off the back and move on.

oldman 09-20-2021 06:35 AM

I'm pretty much in agreement with you (as always), but I beleive the CEH run was the right call. Ball on the 32 with 30 some odd seconds left. It would have been a 49 yard FG attempt, certainally within Buttkicker's range, but a 45 yarder would have been better. One thing that should be learned is don't leave any time on the clock. If PMII would have taken a sack it could have knocked us out of FG range. An incomplete could have left time. An INT would have been disaster.
