Really tough tough decisions coming.

I think signing tyreek is a given.
I think we will lose maybe Conley, Bailey, harris, morse maybe even Nelson
Butker will get paid. Losing kareem puts us in a weird spot with ware. Ford... Who knows.

Thats just to keep the current roster together. The good news is we get huge relief if we restructure houston

He just did that last year or the year before. He won't do it again. It should be Berry this time.

I don't think Houston will take any kind of pay cut. He will tell the Chiefs to pay him or cut him.

The Chiefs have enough leverage over Houston next year that they could ask him to take a paycut if it means adding extra years with more guaranteed money. For sure Houston won't just blindly take a paycut. But I'm sure he'd take an extension that's much more representative of his current value, and I could see him taking a small hometown discount.

Houston restructuring may free up some cap space but that just kicks the can down the road

It also greatly diminishes the size of the can. I think a LOT of decisions will come down to how this postseason plays out.

I'd extend Houston. He's still a playmaker. We're not talking about a mega contract like the current one.

Definitely extend Tyreek, Chris Jones.

And yeah, options in free agency. Yes, all the teams have the same increase in cap room. But we're the only team with Patrick Mahomes. So if the numbers are even, we have a better chance.

It would be a discount for those years, it won’t bring his current contract down

I don't think you could restructure Berry's contract without just making him harder to cut further down the road. Barring Berry doing it out of charity which he has no reason to do.

RINGLEADER 12-11-2018 06:33 PM

People we must resign are:

Tyreek Hill
Dee Ford (though I'd probably just tag him)
Chris Jones

Restructure, if possible:

Justin Houston

If possible:

Steven Nelson

FA:

Secondary

Draft:

RB
LB
TE
Fatty

Lol so. It's not like they're going to pay a F/A 40Mill per season.

Another team having coin has nothing to do with the Chiefs ability to sign a top tier F/A.

That's assuming he's not in their long-term plans. Which given his knees... maybe that's the case. But if the Chiefs want him 5 years down the road, they can restructure him and give him a slightly above market contract. This isn't a desperation restructure play. We can actually cut him next year so Houston doesn't have much leverage here. Unless he wants to test the market and hope they'll pay more than what KC offers him.

Jack and Shit free agency crop for 2019 at the majority of positions EXCEPT Safety.

Earl Thomas
Landon Collins
Tyrann Mathieu
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
to name a few....

Re-sign/extend our own and draft secondary, linebacker, running back. Great DL depth in this draft.

mcaj22 12-11-2018 07:01 PM

They should call up the Cardinals and trade for David Johnson. He's in his prime and has a friendly contract for an elite upper tier RB. Their coaching staff sucks and doesn't know offense and Josh Rosen is terrible. DJ has no time for that rebuild.

This is how I feel, and everything Veach has ever said suggests he will be thinking the same. His philosophy is to get positions in FA that he feels he can’t get easily in the draft, and vise versa. Well, safety is deeeeeep in FA but lacking through the draft.

He said last year that they tried to trade for Watkins and Hitchens during 2017 training camp. So knowing that they tried to trade for Thomas and Collins, I expect them to be at the top of their wish list.

I don’t expect a ton more out of them in FA though. Just some depth pieces here and there.
