Ten Things About Turning 58

10. I'm old enough now where sometimes I can't remember exactly how old I am for sure. I use jerseys to remember things like my bank pin and passwords. So this year I'm Derrick Thomas. That's pretty easy to remember.
9. Today in the mail I got a birthday card from my bank, and a flyer from Speaks Funeral Home. Harsh man....harsh.
8. My wife made me a chocolate cake. Since I have to take Metformin every day, I think she's after my life insurance....
7. Meesh Meesh made bisque on the kitchen floor as his special birthday gift for me. I guess that's better than dragging dead mice into the house.
6. When you get to be my age, you get gifts like socks, and gift cards to Chili's and stuff like that. I'm not complaining. But today I bought 32GB of ram for my Mac Pro tower. Got it for a good price too. So that made me happy.
5. I was supposed to have all this week off, but some stuff changed at work with another employee needing a family leave, so I have to go back to work the rest of the week. Sometimes you have to be a team player.
4. I bought a Tivoli Model One table radio that was supposed to arrive today, but I missed the UPS man while I was on the can. God damn getting old!
3. At the end of the month, I'm doing my real birthday treat. Going to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa to see Steve Earle and the Dukes. That's the Buddy Holly's last concert venue. Then on the way back going to Omaha to see the Storm Chasers (Royals AAA) play Fresno. I have "Diamond Club" seats, like I'm important.
2. My best buddy Gary (Who goes to a lot of the Chiefs games with me) took me to Bryant's BBQ on Brooklyn for dinner, then we went to Knuckleheads to see Tommy Keene and Matthew Sweet. Great show. Had a blast.
1. Thanks to all you good folks on the CP for honoring me with a birthday thread. I really do appreciate it, and I hope to be able to do Top Tens again for you in the 2017 season. Should be an interesting ride this year. Seriously, thanks so much for remembering me today.
