i wonder if he will have any issues relearning the playbook? :D

His head must literally be spinning, crazy couple weeks for the poor guy... welcome back, Knile!

Otter 11-05-2016 03:50 PM

It just might be a wake up call for the guy. It concerns me that GB cut him so quickly but sometimes when your 25 years old you need a scare to know what you're losing. Maybe this was his.

Hang onto the rock sunshine!

Probably cheaper too.

I wonder about the salary cap implications. I don't know what he was making before, but I know that veterans are guaranteed their full salary for the year if on the opening day roster. I would assume that the Chiefs liability for that ended with the trade and the Packer's ended when the Jets claimed him. I would think that since they claimed him off waivers, that the Jets are paying his old salary for the rest of the year and anything we signed him for is above and beyond. I would imagine that they probably got him for league minimum, so it should be a net gain for the Chiefs if my assumptions are correct.

Good grief, really?

Davis isn't a 4 year vested veteran, so no, his contract was not guaranteed because he was on the Week 1 roster. When he was traded, his salary was off the books. Green Bay paid for a few weeks, then cut him. The Jets had him on the roster for less than a day, so they owed him nothing.

The Chiefs likely signed him to a $600k per year deal, which is normal for a 4th year player but they'll only owe him a Pro Rata share. So if he's on the roster on Sunday, the Chiefs would owe him $37,500.00 dollars with the maximum being $337,500 for the remainder of the season.

That won't even crack the Top 51.

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 04:19 PM

Oh. that rule only applies to 4 year vested veterans? I wasn't aware of that. I guess I should have looked it up. Thanks for clearing that up.

This. What a wake up call this guy got. Just think about having to relocate your home 3 times in 3 weeks. I'm glad he's back and I don't really know why. But if Hill were to get hurt he'd sure be nice to have around.

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 04:25 PM

I doubt that he relocated his home to the Jets. He wasn't there long enough. His tenure for the Jets was about as short as Bill Belicheck's tenure as head coach for the Jet's

I'd imagine he just rented a furnished apartment in GB.

BossChief 11-05-2016 05:01 PM

I bet he fumbled a couple times each day in practice and GB and NY were like NAH...

I hope he doesn't play any significant time for us. I'm not sure he's had more than a game or two where he was counted on and didn't fumble.

Add to that he has tunnel vision, isnt decisive and isn't a physical runner and one has to wonder how desperate KC had to be to bring him back.

They are desperate because we really only have one back. Sanka coffee doesn't know the playbook yet. Has Reeves been called up from the PS ? Or is he hurt as well?

I thought he looked decent in pre-season at least to fill in for 10-15 carries against the Jags.

Rasputin 11-05-2016 05:23 PM

Knile Davis needs to quit thinking he is a Dante Hall caliber return man. He needs stop trying juke and run wrong way trying avoid tackles. Just run strait forward and run over people and hang onto the damned ball.
