Speaking of shoelaces, does anyone know why the hell all of them are like twice as ****ing long as necessary these days? I assume it's some kind of annoying fashion fad and I hope it ends soon.

Round for sure, stay tied more often. For running, You can't beat the elastic ones:

I always figured round ones must be more capable of slipping out of their knots, but the pair of shoes I own that comes untied the most has flat laces, so there you go.

I assumed that flat laces would stay tied better, but I'm looking at my shoes. I have several pairs of Nikes that are great shoes, but the laces constantly come untied, even when double knotted, and I'm wearing them now. They have flat laces. I have Asics running shoes, and they never come untied, and I'm pretty sure they're round laces. It's amazing how my first thinking was so wrong.
