Genius!!! I wonder if they charge a flat rate for delivery, or charge it based on mileage.

Flat rate. Their beer is usually a couple dollars higher per case than what you would pay at a carryout, and they only have the typical party beers (Bud Light, Keystone, etc...) but if you live around campus there is no additional delivery fee and it beats having someone make a drunken beer run.

Are they also an actual liquor store? I'm wondering how an actual liquor store + an alcohol delivery service wouldn't be profitable.

My dad used to deliver alcohol at the beer store that he used to work at, but you could get it yourself if your not lazy. Its an awesome idea though.

Well, it's illegal in Iowa, so that may have something to do with it.

No they just serve beer and food. Liquor delivery would be the best idea ever. Order a large pepperoni pizza and bottle of rum.

That is why I'm just asking around. I've had the idea for a long while, was just unsure about potential legal issues.

I would assume doubling as a liquor store while offering delivery would be a solid idea. If legal.

CrazyPhuD 05-29-2011 10:44 PM

Well hell it's safer than having the drive through liquor stores they have in a bunch of places. States should be encouraging delivery places. I know there are weed delivery services.

But I have a feeling that there's an insurance issue here too, you are probably WAY more likely to get robbed delivering alcohol than food.

You know America's obesity rate is alarmingly high when they create drive throughs at liquor stores. I don't get the concept. But, the more I contemplate this idea the more I become intrigued.

To deliver alcohol at all in Iowa, you must have a wholesale liquor license, and even at that you can only deliver to places that have resale licenses (read: bars). Beer cannot be delivered except by state licesensed distributors (the guys driving around in Bud and Miller trucks).

where is my 30 pack!

dj56dt58 05-30-2011 11:44 AM

Beer profit margin is horrible. Liqour is not a lot better.

By the drink is completely the opposite. One bottle of cheap vodka can make around $120 each.

In Arkansas, you can even order a made alcoholic beverage at the drive-in. Margarita to go.
