While I get to hear about it in person, you can also check out KU's Scout site etc. to see the KSU discussion.

I guess it is an angle that had not occurred to me. I still consider the "Big 6" as all needing each other.

Kansas and Kansas State spend near the bottom of the barrel every year on athletics in the Big XII. This is all about football, and unfortunately, neither school has the resources to compete with the big boys.

Does that clear things up?

no KSU doesn't need KU ...

i think they should tell the committee they don't and that they want to go off on their own. :)

Because it is state law. Neither one can go away without the other.

Where does it say that at?

ChiefMojo 05-11-2010 04:36 PM

Oh they can go their separate ways if the Board of Regents are convinced it is the best for the State overall. If KU has the option to go to a high level conference and KSU does not... in the end the State won't stand in KU's way. It is that or to have two dying Universities and the State doesn't want that.

The board is going to try and force a package deal ... if they wait too long then both teams could end up playing in mid valley scrub league.

hopefully it doesn't get that far

Both controlled by the same people........Kansas Board of Regents.

Think of it like Jimmie Johnson (the 48 team) and Jeff Gordon (the 24 team). Both owned by Rick Hendrick, but two different teams that benefit each other.

They're not getting split up for any reason.

i'm going to start breaking Regent legs if they **** us.

you can hear the desperation in Kietzman's voice whenever he talks about it ... he knows KSU is screwed without KU.

Saulbadguy 05-11-2010 04:54 PM

I heard the reason KU was passed up was because of the ongoing investigation to the ticketing scandal...and other goings on.

I mean, how many houses does a head basketball coach in Lawrence really need?

Dude, comon... Financially speaking, MU is a much better deal for the B10, I mean it's not even close. I'm pretty sure that was the main driving force behind that decision. Nebraska brings other things to the table, I guess, like nationally recognized brand and an incredibly good AD (even though they only really care about FB).

If the WEF investigation is what caused KU not being considered, it's a pretty stupid reason.

Yeah, you never try to aggravate KU fans, right? Heh.

If anything, KSU would be better off w/out KU even existing. KU takes probably every single in state basketball recruit worth a sh*t and they probably split on football recruits. Same thing in Iowa. Probably 80% of people in Iowa and Kansas like the Hawkeyes and Jayhawks respectively.

So in reality, KU is of detriment to KSU.

wow ... way to take the discussion in a completely irrelevant direction.

this about how KU and KSU relate to the upcoming conference changes etc.

of course every school would benefit if there wasn't any other scholastic competition.
