Sounds precisely like what I had, and that is sciatica. The nerve running down the spine was compressed so that only the right side of my leg was experiencing a sharp pain- a constant freakin' pain that kept me awake and cursing at old ladies and unsuspecting strangers.

So glad I don't have sciatica...I still have back pain, but I'll take that any day over sciatica.

Yea I would rather deal with back pain than this burning at times, then my toes feel like they are numb and red ants eating on the bottom of my feet. There are times when I get out of the jeep after working in the mornings that I can barely walk. Back pain, yea I can deal with it, this leg and foot pain is whats causing me to be almost disabled.

Those I will keep. He has me on 7.5 Percocet every 6 hours right now. Don't know what they will give me after surgery.

I know your pain. When I had sciatica, I was working 8-5 at my job during that time. During rush hour traffic I was literally screaming and crying because the sciatica was making it so unbearable. There were a lot of mornings I had to put my right leg up on the dashboard of the car to close off the nerve, even if just for a few minutes- which seemed like a moment in heaven when I did.

Gloria, I hope this works for you...you are most certainly in my prayers. I know how it feels and I pray, pray, pray and wish you the best and most successful of surgeries.

Of all the stuff they gave me, I like percocet and norflex the most. I loved oxycontin at first, but it turned itself against me.

Mmmmm Percocet

I think it's great that you decided to have the surgery, Badgirl. Hopefully you will have a speedy recovery.

As a recreational drug user, I can say that Oxycontin is by far the most beautiful thing on the face of the earth. I did it a lot as a younger pup. I stopped because it was too good.

After being higher than a motherfucker for 8 hours straight, everything else kind of loses its wow factor. I can TOTALLY see how people get addicted because even now to this day there is nothing in the world that compares to that feeling.

Percocet is the same feeling except not as intense or long lasting. When I take Oxy, though, I start crying because I'm so happy, and writing poetry about how beautiful the world is. This is not an exaggeration. Its about the only time in my life where I didn't give a flying fuck about getting laid (cause it felt like I just did, lol).

I had C5 and C6 fused with a metal plate, screws and rods, about 7-8 yrs ago. I was reluctant too...

It's been one of the best things I've done. I lost about 10% of range of motion rotating my neck...but other than that, it "fixed" the pain and was otherwise uneventful. Recovery for me was....relax, lay low for a week or so; after that, it was a piece of cake. Drugs were fine, good; percocet too. Just back off of it when you can; the sooner, the better.

Best wishes. I'll add you to our thoughts and prayers.

Oh, I've had Oxy too. It didn't do anything like that to me, but it did make me have really vivid dreams.

To actually post something on topic, MAKE SURE to do your physical therapy. I've seen people who's legs and arms completely freeze up and never truly move again because they thought they were done once they got the surgery. The surgery is the first step, and the easy part. After that BLOWS. You'll be forced to do a lot of exercises, none of them should cause you pain, but you will be sorer than a motherfucker the next day. You will not want to go to PT, you will think where you're at is sufficient enough. You are wrong. Keep going, be a super trooper, and KEEP GOING TO THERAPY!

Well, I can attest to that as I mentioned earlier. Oxy does rock. But, like all intoxicants, it does come with its fallbacks. I have a friend of mine who's a pharmacist and he said, quote, "that sh*t ****s up your brain's mechanisms..."

I had already decided if the dr.wanted to take me to OC's I will refuse. They are 2 addictive and there seems to be a lot of deaths related to OC's more than other pain meds that I have heard of.
