Roth was a second round pick in 2005 FWIW...

Sometimes I wonder if GM's have their public relations folks put this garbage on Wikipedia to see what the reaction is from the fan base.

Roth was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round (46th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. The team selected him with a draft pick obtained in the trade that sent cornerback Patrick Surtain to the Kansas City Chiefs.

What's funny is we think it's too little and some of those fish fans think it's too much. One said Roth and a 4th would be a better deal. :shake:

Anyway, while I don't think Bowe should be traded, I am surprised at the amount of outrage over the supposed draft pick price. No one is going to give up a 1 for Bowe, unless you can snooker Jerry Jones again. The going price for a receiver is a 2nd and another couple of picks...

Bowe is one of the draft picks we actually hit on. Bowe is the only proven playmaker on the offense. Bowe is a BAMF. Bowe is young.

You don't trade him.

Can someone edit the page to make the trade for Miami's first rounders over the next 5 years, plus Ronnie Brown? :)

GM's don't care about reaction from the fan base. They care about wins and/or making money for the owner.

I dunno, from an outsider's perspective, if you're gonna rip the whole thing up and rebuild, then why not make that trade? If Roth was a 2nd and is a solid player, and they get in addition to him a 2nd and a 5th in picks, that's a decent deal. Bowe's a good WR--I mean, he did average around 1000 yards over two seasons--but it's not like he's Randy Moss or Terrell Owens in his prime. Of course, I think that trade would be a clear signal that they've officially given up on this season and are just in fire-sale draft-pick-stockpiling rebuilding mode, and that they're just gonna spend the year letting Cassel run around and get used to the offense while the team loses. But if you're only gonna win 2 to 4 games anyway... They'd certainly take a huge PR hit and probably end up dealing with empty seats and disgruntled fans, but sometimes you really gotta tear it all down if you're gonna rebuild it...

I agree, what I'm saying is that if you did, he's not going to bring in a first rounder. Which is why I wouldn't trade him in the first place, Jared Allen being the lesson in that, unless there's something we don't know about Bowe that someone else does...

They just saw the results of Braylon Edwards for a 3rd/5th and some scrubs. Finheaven makes WPI look like geniuses.

Because you don't trade your young playmakers if you're planning on building this thing back up. You trade your players that don't factor into the future of this franchise (Gonzales).
