Amazing! An electronics retailer going down? Who'da thunk? Maybe the "associates" can go sell used cars; it would be an upgrade in their career.

It's a pretty good bet that they will....it's never made money, and it's in a lousy location right next to a crappy Toy's R Us. What's really sad is that they had a chance to steal the old Kmart location from Best Buy had they been a little quicker. As I understand it, when the old Kmart location was closed and the owner was looking to split the location and have 2 stores take up the old space they approached Hobby Lobby and Circuit City. Hobby Lobby jumped at the chance and CC hesitated. That's when Best Buy jumped in and stole it away.

Just KC market, entire state of Kentucky and 155 stores in total..

Well for now.. I suspect the whole company will go down by next fall.. No way to survive losing that many stores, it is close to 25% of their stores they are closing down right before Christmas..

Terrible prices, terrible selection, terrible customer service. They brought it upon themselves. Everytime I went in there I blamed myself for wasting 5 minutes.

Bugeater 11-02-2008 08:27 PM

They pulled out of Omaha about 8 years ago, but the fact that they were stupid enough to open a store right across the street from NFM sure didn't help.

Meh. They at least carried Onkyo A/V receivers.

I was pissed at them when I bought my big screen. I was spending around 2k or so, but they wouldnt take my credit card. I have perfect credit and the spending limit was fine but they kept deining my card. So after 30 minutes of playing around with them, told them to shove it and I'll go buy somewhere else. Actually went to Wal-Mart and got the exact same tv for 1k instead of 2k.

Yeah.. With online stores destroying brick and mortar stores by prices and not having to pay out 90% employees eventually they will all go down.. Big Box stores like Walmart/Target will also destroy them..The only reason they will last until next year is the 6months they will get from the NYSE..

While that may be true in some cases, Circuit City's downfall is all their own doing. Look at their history and you will see a poorly managed company.

It wouldn't surprise me that the CoMo store closes. Selection there in the past few months has been crap. CC is on its death bed, and whatever stores are not closed during the first round of closings will be done once the final nail is hammered in, which won't be too long from now IMHO.
