There wasn't a sophomore listed among the offensive linemen on the AP All-American squads so that isn't an indictment on Andre Smith. That's fine, my boy Andre will enter next fall as a Preseason All-American, make the 1st team AP squad and possibly take home the Outland Trophy, before being a first round draft pick in the 2009 draft.

You're saying that Kirk Herbstreit doesn't get a chance to watch 20 games? Or how Neal McCready a reporter from Alabama and one of the 12 voters in the AP.

Five years from now, we shall see how many of those scrub All-Americans accomplished everything. I will save this thread link and revisit it when Andre Smith wins the Outland Trophy next year.

Just remember, Andre is just a sophomore. Vendication is going to be sweet.

Ok Dashboard Confessional. Take it somewhere else. We are talking about players good enough to be All Americans.

That's fine. I hope he gets to be an All-American next year. The fact of the matter is we are discussing THIS year's All-American's, and Andre Smith isn't one of them. Deal with it.

This thread is for discussing All Americans. Thanks.

I am not going to back down because a deserving player got snubbed. Andre Smith is an All-American. The flawed system doesn't reward underclassmen. It took 75 years for the voters to finally recognize a deserving sophomore for the Heisman.

Andre Smith shared the Jacobs Trophy with Jonathan Luigs, who just so happened to win the Rimington Award, which goes to the best center in the country. Luigs is a consensus All-American. You don't think a sophomore is deserving who shares the "Best offensive lineman honor" with a player of that caliber then you're just a closed minded fool.

You're absolutely right about the system being flawed about not allowing underclassman. So flawed in fact, that five(5) underclassman made the first team list. I'll say it again, your guy didn't even make the 2nd or 3rd teams, yet you're claiming he was snubbed.

This year's AP list lost credibility not having Andre Smith on it.

I am complaining Smith got snubbed and has a strong case to be one. The only knock on him so far he's a sophomore. He has the resume and the game film to back it up.

Keep reveling in your farce of an All-American list. It's not much different than your typical Pro Bowl roster.

Where is the mighty Brandon Pettigrew?

All the underclassmen like Tebow, Crabtree and Selvie have commonly available measureables called statistics to validate their status.

It's a lot tougher for an offensive lineman since all they have is game film and word of mouth.

My boy was the best offensive lineman in the finest football conference in the country. If that doesn't qualify as an All-American, I don't know what does.

Being on the list in the thread topic.

This shouldn't be that hard.
