No. I did not. I should have!

Why?

Why shouldn't they?

One guy is coming off an injury that’s already extremely low % of playing at high level. The other failed at his chance on left side.

What are the stats on two guys playing left guard and left tackle side by side for the first time in the nfl together? Aside from the first facts

To me that’s a luxury and we tried that and whiffed on the CEH pick.

Can't let the CEH miss keep you from trying again when your gut says go for it though... same as you can't just quit trying for a #1 QB after missing on Blackledge

Let’s see what happens. Still some good backs left.

I find it odd Im only hearing that on CP and KC's front office has openly stated he would be ready to go by training camp.

Can't speak to the specific instance, just the reasoning behind drafting a guy who was probably going to be an UDFA based on rankings or the board.

It's not unheard of that it happens as a favor to a coach or whoever to bank favors or reciprocate for one you owe.
Kids do get picked just to make Jr or daddy feel better/ proud in these late rounds.

Do Veach and Reid seem like idiots to you? They don't to me. They seem positively at ease with the injury and rehabilitation. So I'm going to assume they know more about that than I do. Or than Crow does, or DJ does. I'm going to assume that they are privy to actual first hand info that we don't get.

Left tackle is a really difficult position to play at the NFL level. Just because Kingsley didn't succeed at it doesn't change his stellar physical attributes. There's every reason to expect him to be able to play well inside, without the worry of being on the island.

And we have Moore as the stop-gap insurance policy. In February, we lost a Super Bowl because we had zero left tackles on our roster. Now we have two.

Call it a win and move on.

Simmons is going to start.

On day 1.

No, I get that. Just don't think Mertz was worth a draft pick, much less trading up to secure his rights.

I would say almost a zero chance. He will still be in recovery mode. And they signed a vet for it.

My “I can’t believe they are still available and I hope 2 fall to us” grouping at this point…

Xavier Restrepo
Isaiah Bond (might go undrafted due to SA allegations)
Luke Lachey
Sebastian Castro
Brassard Smith
Logan Brown
Cameron Williams
Jared Ivey <——gonna be a Chief.
Zy Alexander

Damien Martinez

Couch-Potato 04-26-2025 03:01 PM

Some talent still left on the board…

OT Brown
DE Ivey
CB Bryant
WR Bond
WR Restrepo
WR Johnson
RB Smith
RB Martinez
RB Sanders

Brown and Smith would really complete this draft IMO

Rain Man 04-26-2025 03:01 PM

Okay, I was out for a run this morning, but I'm back and catching up.

Guys that I'm watching for the Chiefs are, in no particular order:

RB Kyle Monangai
RB Raheim Sanders
WR Xavier Restropo
WR Elijhah Badger
TE Jalin Conyers
OT Jack Nelson
OT Hollin Pierce
G Joshua Gray
LB Jackson Woodard
LB Karene Reid
Edge Kaimon Rucker
Edge Tyler Batty
Edge Elijah Williams
CB Zy Alexander
CB Tommi Hill

Tell me if I'm wrong.

I don't think they were gunshy, it just the board fell the way it did and they saw better value elsewhere.

Not according to Andy/Veach who said that he’ll be ready to go by training camp.

Amazing how many people here claim to know more about Simmons’ injury/recovery than Veach/Andy/Burkholder.
