Jones already got a big deal..and basically willing to flush 10 million and kill his FA value after, if he had just shown up and played out the year Jones would bank a huge FA deal next year..none of it makes any sense at all.

The only explanation is that Veach and Jones are very very close. Veach told Jones that they need some roll over cap space for 2024 and listen to Katz when he tells you to hold out!

Then Veach tells Jones that he can turn around and sew Katz for misregistration to recoup all his money! Everyone wins except Katz

We just did it.

Technically the Chiefs could mitigate the damage by NOT keeping him on the FTR list for 2 weeks after he finally shows up.

But I don't think Andy's gonna do that. He is going to be PISSED about this. And remember, Reid is essentially a 'full week of practice and you MIGHT get limited reps' guy when people return from injury. Unless you're Mahomes, if you don't put a full week in, you're not playing. And even when you PUT a full week in, you might STILL not be playing.

He doesn't put guys out there if he doesn't think they're in game shape (unless you're Mahomes). He thinks a lesser player at 100% is more valuable than a better player at 95%. He might not even be wrong.

I don't see the Chiefs letting him off the hook. He's made his bed.

Good. **** him and **** the Katz brothers.

25-27 AAV seems like a pretty big moment for some Christopher Reeves agent over his skies

The simple truth is that no team will pay CJ a third contract worth 30M a year. There is no pathway where he recoups the money he’s losing this year. He’s tarnishing his reputation and his bank account with a stupid strategy that ensures he makes less money.

KC is going to have to outscore teams this season. Fortunately, we’re built to do just that.

CJ can enjoy making $22M the next two seasons and ending up with a short-term deal that pays millions less than he wants. And when it sinks in what he’s let his agents convince him of, only then will he realize how stupid this “strategy” has been.

Go light up the scoreboard Chiefs…

Stop with this. It’s not like the stance he’s taking is one that’s common in these situations. You can’t operate an organization assuming players you’re negotiating with are willing to go scorched earth and light substantial amounts of money - even for them - on fire. Or else you’re going to be pulling the ripcord early and often and that’s hardly optimal either.

I think anyone blaming the front office for not seeing this coming and getting ahead of it is an idiot.

Trade Tyreek in March, WTF are they doing?!?!

CJ holds out, WTF are they doing?!?!

Yup the only path to get $30M would be to play! He would need to play and have an even better year that last year to even talk about $30M. Sitting out takes his only path away.

They did see it coming and from all reports they were going to make him the second highest paid DT in football. Unfortunately what they offered him is either too low in guarantees or it's loaded with outs to protect themselves from a drop-off in production.

I could imagine his teammates aren't exactly thrilled with this outcome either. No matter what has been said for the cameras.

I hope not, **** him.

Imagine Mahomes winning the SB without Tyreek and Chris Jones. It’ll just make shit even sweeter.

Lol, this.

We may have some exciting games this year, a la 2018.

Should be a hell of an offensive show on the days the Chiefs D doesn't show up!

As long as we get to the playoffs, which we will, I'll still take my chances with Andy and Pat over any other combo in the NFL.

Bring it on!

Yeah it's not like he wasn't warned. 100% chance they've told him he needs to be here by X date or it's hardball time
