Seattle offered him 5yrs 15 mill without even interviewing him. The Giants (where he's from) couldn't entice him to interview either.

Atleast he is giving KC a long thought and it looks like he is seriously considering it.

Things he has to ponder:

Living in KC comparred to NE. We know his wife has family in Wichita but would he, his wife, and little girl enjoy it in the midwest? Only they know that.

Is he looking for Kraft, BB, and the Pats to almost beg him to stay? Maybe he is looking for a contract that leaves him in total control of football opps when BB leaves. Who knows.

The way i see it, if he isn't ready or contract talks havn't hit the home stretch, Hunt should be continue his search and keep in touch but not expect to land him.

Jimmy Raye Jr. of the chargers is able to interview now.

The ravens gave permission for George Kokinis to interview for CLE's GM job and Rex Ryan for the jets i think, but only for yesterday(sunday) since they are still in the playoffs. I really hope Clark was in Baltimore today talking with Eric DeCosta.

The Steelers: I think Director of Football Ops Kevin Colbert would be hard to persuade. He is a lifelong steeler fan and from Pittsburgh. Ron Hughes the college scouting director is about the same age or older than Carl(63 or 64). The pro personell director, Doug Whaley would be good to talk to though. That org is excellent in terms of everyone on the same page knowing who they want to target in the draft and FA. Owned by the Rooney boys one of which was top man in their scouting department and drafted 4 hall of famers in one draft back in the 60's or 70's. Swann Alsworth and 2 others i can't think of which ones they were if it was maybe Bradshaw and Lambert or Hamm.

Polian of the Colts: I just can't see him leaving when the owner wants him to take over for his dad down the road.

Dominik of TB seems to have been told he is no longer in the running according to some report out there. Who knows if that is true or not.

Another guy i like is John Schneider of the Packers. He spent 3 years in KC and left when Marty took the redskins job to be his main Personell man. I'm sure Marty mentioned him as well as Raye when he and Clark met. Since then Schneider went to join Ted Thompson in Seattle and followed him to GB where he is asst GM basically but with some other title.

I think we need an answer from Pioli ASAP. If were looking twards the steelers or ravens, we only have a week to talk to and possibly hire either Colbert/Whaley or DeCosta depending on who wins or if he wants a chance to speak with Tom Heckert of the eagles who may or may not be available to talk a week from now.

So, isn't the Broncos hiring of Pats' McDaniels a strong signal that Pioli is not coming to KC? Because McDaniels was considered to be Scott's top choice as a HC.

If Pioli were coming to KC, McDaneils would have waited because he knows that Pioli is going to select him as HC.

Den has much better Offensive personnel in place. Also is known to do whatever it takes to get players wanted.

Pioli all but gone to Kansas City
What might have seemed like a long shot at the time -- Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli running the Chiefs' football operation -- is now looking more like a realistic possibility. Once thought to be the Chiefs' leading candidate, now there is no doubt: Pioli is their man, according to an NFL source. Perhaps more important, Pioli's interest in the Chiefs and a potential new career challenge has grown. All that stands in the way is hashing out a contract agreement, or perhaps a late pitch from the Patriots (who lost offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to the Broncos yesterday as head coach), or a last-minute change of heart from Pioli. All scenarios remained in play as of early last night, but as reported in yesterday's Globe, the intensity of talks between Pioli and the Chiefs has increased within the last 24-48 hours. Word out of Kansas City continues to be that the possibility of the sides coming together is picking up momentum. The key has been the comfort level between Pioli, Hunt, and team president Denny Thum.

\Disagree

Who says McDaniels is his first choice as a HC?

And wouldn't "first choice" also imply there are other choices?...

This. If he isn't signed by today it's not gonna happen. Really if he doesn't sign today Clark should just move on. If this guy is just dragging this out for his ego it only hurts us. Besides if he really wants to fire Herm with his first move he needs time to find a whole new coaching staff. The time is now if not move on and let Pioli run back to that shadow in N.E.

Not necessarily to me anyway. You never really know. McDaniels leaving may have been another reason for Pioli to leave. You know after a while when the staff around you keeps getting promoted and leaving you are not left with what you want or believe in anymore.

:spock:

I don't get why you feel it has to be TODAY. What is so magical about Monday Jan the 12th, other than it's my Father's Birthday.....who'd be 88 if he were alive today.

So as the 43-year-old Hunt prepares to make his first major hire since taking over the club from his late father, the venerable Lamar Hunt, he is in many ways a matchmaker. He must determine if the person he hires to run the Chiefs' football operation is a good fit with Thum.

Albeit in a short timeframe, Pioli and Thum have hit it off, according to the NFL source.
I like the sounds of this!:D
