It’s incredible to me that anybody with eyes would say playcalling (no matter who was calling plays) was the problem last year.
Tyreek Hill is the only player I’ve seen get open more than Xavier Worthy. Dude was always ****ing wide open and the either OL was ass and ruined the play or the QB was ass throwing it downfield missing him.

On my life 2019 Mahomes hits this throw to Worthy pic.twitter.com/evPp43sHhz
— 𝘙𝘑 (@RJLockedIn) September 29, 2024

Patrick Mahomes missed 4th quarter touchdowns in Week 10:

1. 2019 Pat has X go for 1300 yards as a rookie because the dude was wide open all year and Pat either didn't look at him or just missed. Ass. Pure ass |

This makes me wonder if it will bleed into next season or if he will have his head on straight for 2025. |
Pat was just different this season. No idea what happened to make him turn into the ability to check the ball down, instead of going for the home run like we’re so used to. If he’s worried about interceptions, or just not trusting himself for some reason, that’s concerning. Was he playing through an undisclosed injury? It’s not 100% the LT situation, because he bailed on plenty of clean pockets.
I have a feeling he will go back through the tapes this offseason, and see it clearly as well (I’m sure he already knows) how poorly he played, and all the missed opportunities. Hope he can get back to taking the chances, and being the badass he was at the beginning of his career here. If he can get back to using his killer instincts, and attacking the opposing defenses, and a little less Alex Smith mixed with bad day Bret Favre. Was good to see him and Worthy finally start to get on the same page at seasons end and the playoffs. But even with that trust and familiarity they developed. He still wouldn’t pull the trigger on that early shot to Worthy when he had beaten his coverage, and chose to check down instead. A younger Mahomes would have not even seen the check down option because he would have seen Worthy streaking past defenders and let her rip. |

You can suck on your own and overcome, but once the coaches saw it was impacting Mahomes mentally, it was overwith. |
