I see this every year, they changed rule like, I don't know, 10+ years ago that the clock only stops to spot the ball if you go out of bounds unless it's under 5 min.

It won't matter. The clock will continue to run. It's under 5 minutes I believe is when the clock will stop, if a player voluntarily goes out of bounds.
