253 passing yards
2 TD’s

That’s the garbage time stat padding Rivers had after we went up 31-12 with 41 seconds left in the 3rd and played prevent LMAO

How much of that was just straight dump offs to the RBs?

So what you are really saying is that after nearly 3 quarters Rivers only had (424-253...) 169 yards passing and 1 TD? Man that secondary SUCKS!

:)

Rivers was averaging about a 100 yards passing per quarter. Yeah, they sucked.

All of this is making me feel better about the defense, but at some point you've got to learn from your mistakes.

Save the prevent D for the last defensive series or two. Playing prevent for entire quarters is how you end up with two of the worst playoff collapses in NFL history.

Agreed with a capital A. I worry that this will once again be our downfall, because the coaching just doesn't seem to learn from painful past lessons. Prevent defenses are nothing but trouble to start with, and even worse when you do it for an extended period of time.

Prevent defenses are just a terrible strategy. I wonder if anyone has done a study about how they really affect the odds of winning a game.

There has been talk that the hot conditions may have played a role? Because it was quite noticeable how the defense took their foot off the gas in the last quarter.

Have you yet to figure out that continually whining about something that literally cannot be changed does absolutely no good nor adds anything to the conversation?

There is an argument to be made as to whether Scandric or one of the younger guys who are you know, actually on the team, should play or not.

Crying about Peters being gone is irrelevant to what we CAN or CANT do this season to fix the issues.

Don't forget that somehow even though 2 of their dropped passes they had were on a drive they eventually scored a TD, we somehow dodged giving up another 14 -21 points. :hmmm:

Rivers has probably lost damn near every game he has passed for 400 yards in.

Buckweath 09-12-2018 06:36 AM

The defense was decent. Playing one of the top offenses in the league, they held their own, except for the 4th quarter where they played prevent.

At first, I didn't like that prevent defense but when you think of it, the only Chargers' chance to come back and win the game was to have big plays and score quickly.

By playing prevent defense, you prevent any big play and let the clock keep running by allowing "small" gains. Not saying I like it, but I can see why a DC would do that.

The offense was at least just as bad as the defense in the 4th quarter, if one considers that the prevent defense was bad.
