He was so close to a sack on the play where Allen got out of the pocket. Had his hands on him

JFC this place goes full reerun every single time we lose, even when we played better than anybody expected. |
The bar is pretty low for him and so far he's still playing under that bar. I saw more flashes from him earlier in the season than I have lately.
|
Folks who want to judge George go and look at Trey Hendrickson's stats from his THREE YEARS in the league. The guy had six and a half sacks in three seasons before he took off. And Trey is the guy I'd compare George to the most so we'll see. Rookies getting tons of sacks at DE are not that common. It's mainly the elite guys who do.

This place doesn't understand that certain positions are very difficult to step right in and be a force. He will keep working. He will keep improving. He will be fine. |

This is a defense mechanism that many of y'all have any time we lose just because you can't accept that the best player in the world didn't get it done today. The Chiefs were down a lot of guys on defense goijg agaisnt the closest thing to our QB, and they played more than good enough to win. |
His preseason probably gave people more unrealistic expectations. He looked like a perennial All-Pro in those games.

He's still getting pressure, and he will get better. |
His job would be a easier, and we would not be desperate for immediate production from him, if Frank was the guy we traded for. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but it's a lot to ask a rookie to come in and fix that.
I do think he could and should be doing a little more, but I am not really worried about him. |

First it was he sucked because he had short arms. Then you changed and said it was your biggest error in evaluation ever and he was a Greek God. And now you're back to he sucks? At last, Karlaftis is going to rise again like a Greek Phoenix from Marty's ashes. |
My #1 Karlaftis comparison was Trey Hendrickson.
Many compared him to Hali. Guys that win with strength, motor, and relentlessness take time to develop and adjust to the NFL level. Both of those guys did too. |

LOL, great players do this Patrick has overcome deficits over and over. I can't blame him until it's clear to be blamed. Instead of the refs stearing the game. Karlaftis was drafted because of his ability, and to cull the shit passrush from the previous season |

I guess the Sneed sack and fumbles don't count huh? Did our rookie 7th round pick not have a pick 6? Is he not playing as good as any rookie CB not named Sauce? God damn you're ****ing clueless. |
Veach’s draft/acquisitions of the secondary has been fine.
It’s the offensive skill positions and edge rushers where I’m concerned |

Can't really blame him as he's a rookie; other than Jones, the DL just isn't doing much to get pressure. Having to blitz to get pressure and leaving rookies against multiple #1 WR isn't a winning proposition. He is a first round draft pick so the expectations aren't unwarranted.

I don't care what his PFF grade is.. I want to see some on field results and so far he is invisible. Think next year may be better but he's not having the impact we hoped..

He's a guy that looks the part. Except he didn't get the results in college and he's not getting them in the pros yet either.
|
So close here. Allen is a great runner tho and just a little hard to tackle

As a rookie Justin Houston flashed but didn’t get a sack until his 10th game. Then he compiled 5.5 in his last few.
Can’t help but see a similar path for George. He’s doing the right things. Struggling a bit but getting pressures. It will come |
Bj Kissel is a homer.
Gets hired by the chiefs to be a homer. Starts his own network with him doing homer pods. Makes a homer 10 sack prediction for Karlaftis. Now all the homers are disappointed. |

Lol can’t believe people are calling the entire 22 class a pile of crap because Karlaftis doesn’t have a sack yet.
Wait a minute… this is CP. I can totally believe that. |

Are you talking about the throw where Mahomes was clearly off and Moore was barely able to get a hand on it? I'm almost certain you're either trolling or reeruned. That was hardly a catchable ball. When Pat actually gave him a catchable ball he made a pretty big play. |

people should pump the breaks on the rest of the draft class but karlaftis is practically invisible
clark has been around the QB more |

But sure, "invisible" because it hasn't translated to sacks just yet. |

Rookies aren't playing like all pros 6 games into year 1? BUSTS!

George reminds me of the long time Ram, Chris Long. High motor and did everything but pile up sacks. It's early though, let the pup grow up before you judge him like a hound.

But if you're talking about him now and how he's played against expectations - nope. My expectations weren't that high, I thought he'd be immediately solid against the run and pretty average as a pass-rusher in his first year, but fairly quickly and obviously better than Clark. He hasn't been that, he HAS been completely invisible. There is absolutely no way he is top 15 in pass rush win rate, and I can't see how anyone with eyes thinks he's been solid against the run. As for the rest of the class I like Moore, I'm confident in McDuffie and I think we'll get important contributions from others, that's a good result. But for every bedwetter on CP who thinks every pick is a bust, there's 20 people who wet their knickers over every draft pick before a snap was played. |
|
Where we pick in the draft you would have to be lucky to get a stud rookie. He may be really good but he needs work and time.
|
Our defense is going make a major jump next year but we have growing pains this year. I thought that was pretty much understood universal on Chiefs Planet. No no I was kidding myself everyone thinks what you see is what you get never mind developing and experience.
We got a good shot at the title this year and turn around and be even better next year. |

New problems always pop up. Yes the secondary might be better next year, but the DL is still problematic, three of the 5 starting OL spots are unresolved, WR unsettled and at some point Kelce is going to start slowing down a little. |
There’s no way that Karlaftis is top 15 in pass rush win rate, but as a team they’re top 10 in pass rush win rate. So back away from the ledge. It’ll be okay.

So much of it comes down to luck and health, so maybe you want to give yourself as many opportunities as you can yes. But I also think you can do both without killing chances at the other. |

Those moves seemed aggressive at the time, as if we were going hard for the title every year as if it were our last shot. The Chris Jones extension worked out. The other two didn't. And that sometimes happens when you make aggressive moves. I'm not faulting Veach or saying we shouldn't have gone all in like we did, but it does mean that eventually you have to have a re-organization year. Fans claim they accept that reality as a consequence for going hard, but when it happens, it's like it catches them by surprise. "What? Why is there a hole in the roster? Why are so many rookies being forced to play?! We should be going all in!!!!!!!" And seriously... the Chiefs are a top 5 ****ing team in the NFL, and that's being conservative. And THIS is the result of our "just cool it with the trades and big contracts for a season or two, guys" year? Man, if I were a fan of any other team, I'd kill for a "rebuilding" year like this one! |
Some people really don’t understand just how hard Brett Veach’s job really is.
Patrick’s contract is very flexible and it is a steal for his talent, but it’s still a QB contract. That means we don’t have cap space like all these other teams with rookie QB contracts like the Jets, Dolphins and Eagles. We also don’t pick early and that makes a huge difference. Veach may have made some bad decisions (Clyde) but he’s still drafted multiple good players in the last 4 drafts. Some of ya’ll sucking that Bills dick need to come back this time next year when they have no money, late draft picks and have lost some of their star players due to Josh Allen’s contract kicking in. |
His job is hard?
He's got a generational QB and a HOF top 5 or 6 head coach of all time. I mean, come on. |

I'll be honest, so flame away. Yes I know he's a rook, but damn I've been disappointed SO FAR.

He's nothing special so far. Give him a chance.
