Take your time man. I really don't need to go shopping for a while. I'm like a compulsive grocery shopper. I actually really enjoy grocery shopping. We buy stuff like we have a family of 5 even though it's just my wife and I.

And next time, unmount it.

I found it, did it but that didn't fix it. Boy that thing was sensitive. I didn't eject/unmount my first flash drive years ago the first two times and nothing go destroyed.

Wal-mart express is being piloted here. Order online then drive through and pick up your groceries. Since my grocery store trips look basically the same every week, I can't wait for this. Just save your standard list, make minor adjustments each week, place order, drive through.

I have had this happen to thumb drives and mp3 players. If you don''t dis -mount a power surge through the usb can fry it. I always cringe when I get a message windows cannot stop this device and I must unplug without dismounting. I don't know if it helps but I unplug laptop from power and remove battery.

Taplapia. The liquid-diet son was off playing with some friends, I had the skillets going, so I decided to just go for it.

I might die later tonight from the oil, but if I don't I'll be better off for it.

But seriously, it wasn't greasy at all...

You ever pickle them? Delicious.

All sorts of variations, but the base is vinegar, garlic cloves, sugar, fresh dill, red pepper flake, bay leaf.

Had them once at a family-style restaurant. They were out on the table as a per-appitizer. And yes, they were amazing... Now, when i passed on the fried okra tey thought I was messed-up, but I knew my way around a plate of collard greens, so I was allowed to live...

Love me some fried okra. Never understood people's dislike of okra. But then I've always had it out of the garden and dry cooked [fried, or my mom would just slice them up and cook them in cast iron with a bare skim of oil to keep things from sticking and shredded cheese sprinkled over them].

And my mom is Geechee, and she remains confused at how that gene passed me by. Ans trust me, I love everything from raw ousters, to raw eggs, sushi, and beef tartar, so it ain't the snot! And when I have pickled green tomatoes sitting there, yeah, I'm nto going to worry if the lady in the kitchen comes out, and she did, I solved that with a hug and telling her I'd marry her daughter if I wasn't engaged (even though it didn't happen). Tell them your the product of a geechee lady and they let you slide, but tell you, "it's wrong jus da same!!!"

And to this day I want to know how southern women who are frying chicken can still spell like apricots when you hug them!

I know that for thumb drives. I just didn't think it applied to a memory card for some reason. Never used one before. Use to plugging in with a usb transfer cord. Plus I have used an external drive in a long time so I didn't think about it.

Due to water content, texture is a lot more like eggplant parm inside the coating. With the tomato acidity.

The_Hound 09-22-2014 08:34 PM

okra and scrambled eggs is the best.

NewChief 09-22-2014 08:53 PM

Meh, she said something, but I wasn't listening, it was all like, "bla, bla, bla, fluffy, hard day at work, men suck, pigs, hot flash, 'then the bitch said', bla bla bla, hot flash, I hate men..............", then the commercial break ended.

Pancakes. I used Alton Brown's recipe. Honestly, they aren't as good as Bisquick pancakes. They don't have quite as much flavor. And while they are a bit "lighter" they have an odd inner texture; almost as if they are undercooked even though they are fully done. Not terrible, but not worth the trouble when you can get better straight out of a box.

Just had a cheeseburger and a few chips. Had a lite beer with it. Ironing, packing running around doing errands no time to prepare a meal.

Last night I had chili lime salmon with yellow, red peppers and steamed broccoli. Had mesclun salad with avocado. Made banana bread in the afternoon because there were so many frickin' bananas lying around getting black.

No pics but I will get that handled on my return next week.

It's not "love" is it? I'm fresh out of that.

Update on the pancakes: I think it's the buttermilk that gives them the undercooked texture. I used the Bisquick recipe, but I used a full cup of buttermilk like in Alton brown's recipe and ended up with the same texture. A half cup of whole milk, a teaspoon of baking powder and a spoon of lemon juice will probably turn out better. I'll try that tomorrow.

Tonight I made a quick dinner-took all of 15 minutes. Had marinated chicken tenders in an Italian Style marinade I created of extra virgin olive oil, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper then grilled on the stove on my grill pan. Also had polenta that the girlfriend made and brussel sprouts in butter sauce.

This is what was left after I ate my serving.

Came out very well and juicy! :D

Fire Me Boy! 09-25-2014 07:17 PM

I'm making meatloaf sometime in the next few days. I don't like meatloaf, but if Chef gave me the full recipe like he typically does, this is gonna be stellar.

Mr. Flopnuts 09-25-2014 07:25 PM

I ended up making my roast tonight. It's dry, old, stick in the mouth roast and not made special or anything. I could snap a picture if everyone really wanted to see it.

I've been eating a lot of lean proteins like chicken breast, and fish lately, so having some goddamned beef was ****ing outstanding! I did use new potatoes in addition to my Idaho spuds which was good. Celery, carrots, onion, and fresh field picked green beans added in made it more like stew, but we enjoyed the hell out of it.

Easy 6 09-25-2014 07:31 PM

I want the Planet to choose my adventure...

a) a huge batch of scrambled eggs with onion, green pepper, ham and cheddar cheese with toast.

b) leftover chili and crackers.

c) grilled turkey, ham and american cheese with sweet pickles and Clancys potato chips.

d) "chunky" chicken noodle soup with crackers and maybe a plain grilled cheese.

None of it is making me horny really, so help me decide what to do...

Is do the leftover chili, but I'm not very motivated right now.

Black forest ham, American cheese with Aldi horsey and some BBQ sauce on a hamburger bun. I ate it over the kitchen sink.

My mom used to make Sloppy Joes "from scratch," sort of. And that's what I'm still partial to even today.

1 lb. ground beef
1 c. ketchup
1 heaping tsp. mustard
1 heaping tsp. sweet relish

Brown beef, drain, and mix it all together. Serve on plain white bread, cut into quarter diagonally.

Add a little minced green pepper, about 1/4 cup of chopped yellow onion, a few teaspoons of brown sugar, and that's mine. Less the relish, and I cook the pepper and onion with the beef. And ONLY Simple Truth organic ketchup. Otherwise it is too sweet. I also let mine simmer for 30 minutes before serving.

It's like crack to my kids.

Three big red potatoes, sliced in the food processor, in a skillet with a good bit of duck fat. Seasoned with salt, cooked about 30 minutes turning over the potatoes every 5-10 minutes until I got some browning. Tossed with parsley and minced garlic after they were cooked through.
