Just read an interview with the director of the movie. That is pretty deep of a movie now that I understand it. Need to watch it again. Anyone else seen it yet?

Dear White People - if possible a better trailer than the movie. Not awful, just trite and 'indy' to the point of twee. I realize that a narrative has to be compressed in a movie, but the conflicts just seemed manufactured and artificially heightened.

Wanted to like it more, but it came of as Spike Lee directing an after school special.

Or maybe I'm just out of touch and today's world truly is filled with oblivious white folk who are generally nice, yet OBSESSED with touching black hair without permission [seemingly 1/2 the movie].

Also, a little saddened that another movie asserting a 'thoughtful' take on contemporary race relations ramps up to another instance of 'fed-up' violence.

Just watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Didn't really watch the first movie but this movie was GREAT!

Neighbors ****ing sucked, there were 3 funny scenes in that entire movie. Horrible.

You should watch the first as well. Great movies..

Not sure if I mentioned this or not but "The Brass Teapot" was a much better dark comedy than I was expecting.

Expected ending happened but the ride before that makes me want to see more of both (male and female) leads...

Birdman...good film but I think the "omg look we made it look like we never cut" thing was stupid, and it's overrated simply because of that gimmick. Nice to see Keaton tearing up shit again though...great performance.

Watch the first one. It's probably better than the second. Franco was really really good.

Watched Perfect Sense last night.

Great end-of-the-world movie where everyone is slowly losing their senses.

It also has Eva Green's tits.

Watched Enemy. I thought it was one of the better thrillers I'd seen in a while.

The final scene. Holy ****ing mindblast. I can't imaging seeing that in the theater.

I'm watching I Give It A Year and Stephen Merchant is absolutely priceless. He needs his own regular TV show.

Finally watched The Town. It was a shorty censored version on TNT, but it was still good. Wish I had seen it earlier.

Good flick. The uncensored is so much better, obviously, so give it a shot when you can.

While we're on the subject, why does cable edit out cuss words? It's cable. Plus, Comedy Central, AMC, FX and others I'm sure allow it all, right up to using "the F bomb".

Yeah, the censoring is ridiculous... watched Casino for the umpteenth time yesterday on cable and they actually edited out "hebe" in the part where Pesci narrates "we're SUPPOSED to be out here robbing, ya dumb hebe".

I mean really, they couldnt leave that in? just be honest about the way a guy like Spilotro taked.

Watched Wall-e for some reason. Not a bad movie, but to me it felt like a pixar short that was just extremely stretched out to feature film length.

Watched "A Place Beyond the Pines" today on Cinemax.

How did i miss this one? Awesome flick.

I liked Wall-E, as I do most every Pixar film, but didn't understand all the critical acclaim. I mean, Wall-E was cute and everything.. But that movie couldn't touch The Incredibles, Toy Story, etc.

I just watched the movie based on these two posts.

Whoa. I gotta do some reading on it but man that was a good mind**** movie. Didn't really like the whole shaky cam thing and they tried to make the dialogue a little bit too realistic but yeah great movie.

Edit: Just found out that the dialogue was mostly improvised. No wonder. It was actors trying to sound natural. That really doesn't work as well as it should.

I echo lew's sentiments - Fury was bad ass.

Pitt is a bad ass war guy.

Yeah, after reading about it, it made a lot more sense. And very deep.

I was so skeptical but that was such a well acted and filmed movie. Just cannot fathom that story either.

Watched The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby last night. Really good performance from James McAvoy.

Timecrimes is excellent.

I'd love an American remake but they'd probably just **** it up.

The ending kind of sucked. But the movie, overall, made up for it.

This. I'm not big on foreign movies and having to read subtitles, but Timecrimes was definitely worth it.

Kingsman is the most fun I've had in a theater in awhile. Freaking hilarious. Like an old-school Bond film with massive amounts of inappropriate humor and gratuitous violence piled on top.

I was hoping I could get the wife to see that tomorrow but she threw down the veto.

The KC Star gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 4. That's a pretty high rank for The Star.

Finally caught American Sniper. I'm not posting in the movie thread because it has AIDS.

Cooper was really really good. Probably as good as I've seen him. The battle stuff was really well executed. I'm not authority enough to be able to know if the phone stuff was legit. I'm also not going to speculate as to whether or not there was embellishment.

Bottom line, it was a well told story about a kickass dude with some really good action.

I still haven't seen this.

Unusual for me because I'm a big fan of Leo.

Shutter Island was one of my least favorite Leo movies but I'm not sure he's capable of making a bad flick..

Watched Whiplash last night. Pretty good. Kind of fun with my son getting into drumming, though, jesus... I'd hate to be someone trying to compete at that level.

Leo DiCaprio's best role might just be This Boy's Life.

Finally watched Donnie Darko. Great movie. Jake Gylenhaal really is a top 5 actor.

He and Deniro's scenes together were awesome.

I liked Wolf on Wall Street. Amazing how believable DiCaprio can be in any role he plays. If only he didn't do that ****ing Titanic movie.

Agree, I watched in theaters and I was never bored with the movie. I was young too and it's like a 3hr movie lol. Titanic was and still is awesome. Wolf of Wallstreet was his best imo

Yup. Much different than I expected. Very well acted.

Also saw "Better Living Through Chemestry" with Sam Rockwell. Good little comedy on netflix. I'd give it 3.5 of 5 stars...

Finally watched Enemy. I know it's been discussed on here a little bit, but what are everybody's theories on that. I have mine but it's still very open to interpretation.

Titanic was 17 years ago. He wasn't a huge star until after that.

I'd say Titanic helped propel his career.

I've heard tons of theories. Anything from the spider representing his mistress, to the spider representing him being caught in the life he doesn't like. Even heard one that the whole movie takes place in his mind, as we never see anything but his thoughts. Crazy!

He might just not like the movie. But it's clear that he is a better actor now. Which I dig.

How do people not think that as a horribly acted movie? I mean, it was so over-dramatically acted it was insane. And I know I am not the only one that thinks that. He got much better at acting after that movie.

The Beach is one of my fave Leo movies!

I never thought it was an acting movie at all. It was an incredibly researched and executed big screen melodramatic spectacle.

I know it wasn't technically his movie but I loved him in Django.

That's a pretty impressive list. Not many can match that. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Tom Hanks..

Plus Leo's got some other low key good movies like The Beach, Shutter Island, Gilbert Grape, Blood Diamond..

How was the Great Gatsby? I love Leo but was just never interested enough to watch that one.

Wasn't he Hughes in the Aviator? I remember that film got a bunch of praise.

The Departed was such a weird film for me.

I remember watching it. I remember thinking it was a really good movie.. But at this point, I can't tell you one single thing about the plot of that movie. Like, I literally have absolutely no recollection of what it was about.

Leo's character as the undercover cop and Matt Damon's character as the crooked cop.

It was ****ing good. Watch it again.
