Edgar Jones is the only thing we have that's halfway close to being a 3rd passrusher on this team.
That said, he's not very good. But yeah, I'll take him for special teams. |
We need good special teams players. We'll get our pass rushers in the draft
|
of the 3 or 4 Jones brothers out there in sports, of course we have the worst one

Umenyiora joining Falcons on Sunday or Monday
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2013, 10:05 PM EDT Osi Getty Images As the weekend moves toward a conclusion, defensive end Osi Umenyiora’s time as a free agent is coming to a close. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Umenyiora is expected to join the Falcons on Sunday or, at the latest, on Monday. “Atlanta is the place,” the source said. The move will end Osi’s decade with the Giants. He became a full-time starter in 2005. By 2012, he was mainly a part-time player, appearing in every game but starting only four. In Atlanta, he’ll step into the spot created by the departure of John Abraham. Still, the Falcons need more punch from their pass rush. Whether that comes from free agency or the draft, the Falcons need to do what they can to help hold those big postseason leads they were able to build in January. |
@FieldYates: Filed to ESPN Boston: the Patriots and free agent OT Sebastian Vollmer have reached an agreement on a new contract.

Ravens land Dumervil on 5-year, $35M contract
Ravens agreed to terms with DE/OLB Elvis Dumervil, formerly of the Broncos, on a five-year contract worth up to $35 million. Just as some observers began writing off the reigning Super Bowl champs, GM Ozzie Newsome lands -- easily -- the top free agent left on the market. Dumervil will return to 3-4 outside linebacker in Baltimore. He enjoyed his career-best season as a 3-4 rush 'backer in Denver, leading the NFL with 17 sacks in 2009. Don "Wink" Martindale was on Denver's staff during that season and is now the Ravens' linebackers coach. Dumervil, 29, will team with Terrell Suggs to give Baltimore the premier outside-edge rusher duo in football, regardless of scheme. Source: Denver Post Mar 24 - 4:42 PM |
Dumerville, Suggs, Canty and Spears. Some good passrushers there.
|
Notice how none of the pundits are asking how the Ravens will ever win without Ray Lewis? Yea, but go ahead and project Manti Teo to us at #1 overall again Kiper. I hope he goes in the fourth round just to prove how much of a joke the pundits really are.
|
Glad to see Dumervil leave Denver. Im not scared of Freeney he's 33. Denver is going all out so well see if we can keep them out of the Super Bowl or any AFC team.
|
Looks like the Ravens might get some good comp picks in the 2014 Draft.
Possibly a few 3rd round picks. I think they'll probably draft a guy like Eric Reid to replace Ed Reed. Their front 7 is still pretty strong. |
they lead the league in comp picks since comp picks have been given
|
i think the Ravens got 10x better imo.
all they have to do is put some young speed in the secondary to replace the old slow guys and hope that stacked front 7 does its job Suggs, Doom, Upshaw, Arthur Jones, Spears, Canty, Ngata. Good luck they go 7 deep with guys that can push the pocket/rush the passer |

Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo 59s
Vollmer's 4-yr deal w/ NE includes $7m signing bonus, another $7.75m in base salaries + $10m in roster bonuses/incentives. Almost $25m max. |
Since we've got you in the thread, Bad Guy, how are you feeling on the prospects of trading down, or trading Albert?

Volmmer deal will have $8.25 million guaranteed
Posted by Mike Florio on March 25, 2013, 5:23 PM EDT sebastian-vollmer Getty Images Some confusion has surfaced as to whether the Patriots and tackle Sebastian Vollmer have agreed to terms. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, they have. The four-year contract will pay $8.25 million Vollmer guaranteed, and it will have a base value of $17 million. Another $9 million will be available in playing-time incentives and roster bonuses, along with a $1 million Pro Bowl bonus. Vollmer, a German-born player who arrived via round two of the 2009 draft, didn’t draw a lot of interest in free agency, presumably because no one believed he wanted to leave New England. He didn’t. And he won’t be. |

The Chiefs didn't give up a 1. The Raiders won 7 games with Palmer. 7 games for 12.5 million over that time. Plus, you're giving up a 2nd rounder this year for a guy not on your roster on top of a 1 last year. Alex Smith would have to break his neck in training camp and never play again for this to be a worse trade. Stop the bullshit spin. |

Raiders didn't give him nothing to work with, especially on Defense.. 4000+ yard passer on a decent team would have been a playoff team |

PFF is a better indicator than Joe Slapdick BTW. |

The guy hasn't played at a high level in 5 years and the Raiders paid a mint for him. The Chiefs make that move and they get crushed for it. In the end, it was a horrid move that cost a #17 in 2012 and the 35th in 2013 for a QB who was showing signs he's been finished since 2009 with diminished arm strength and poor decisions. |
Yeah, Palmer had more upside in 2006. Not in 2013. Not even close.
Palmer is king of garbage time stats. |
That trade may have made sense Pre-Von Olhoffen, but after he got crushed it was only a move the Faid would make.

As of right now, I'd still take Carson Palmer over Alex Smith. 2012 Carson Palmer is pretty much Alex Smith's ceiling.

I wonder how much it would cost to add Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly.
Poe Jackson Devito Seymour Kelly Bailey Powe That would be one hell of a rotation. |
If the Jags land Flynn, the Chiefs are all but certain to stay at 1.1.

No they arent. Philly, Jets, Buffalo all like Geno.
