I'm no huge fan of Smith but I won't go that far.

Fries was pretty average in Indy in 2023 then got hurt and missed most of last season. He was really good in his short time on the field, but he'd never been that good in the past.

There's a lot of projection involved to even get him in the same tier as Smith. I'd say he's no more likely to be a very good OG next year than Kingsley is. I'd be basing that on traits for Kingsley but it's not like Fries has a long track record of premier play in his own right.

Honestly, I think we're gonna be lucky to get Smith at 5/$115 at this point. The franchise tag as his AAV would be a small miracle with what the cap is doing.

In 3 seasons we might not even be overpaying anymore...

You mean traded CJ Gardner Johnson FOR Kenyon Green

Eagles have lost CJGJ, Slay, Milton, Sweat, and Rodgers in 24 hours...if only they unloaded them before the super bowl

Green's a former 1st rounder - yes.

He also appears to suck very badly. Like, would've been a camp cut by Houston in all probability style of badly.

He hasn't done a thing to suggest he's an NFL player.

Fries is a good young player but he’s coming off a fractured tibia.

Might've only beat us by 13 at that point...

I still just can't help but shake my head at how badly we got beat in that game. G'damn it was ugly.

Eagles are also going to lose Bechton and Goedert. I can't see them going back to the Super Bowl next year. There is no way they can replace all those players in the draft.

Mahomes thinking about throwing deep to Worthy, hesitating, and checking down early in the game is burned into my brain.

It was over right then. We just didn’t know it yet.

and they just traded arguably the heart of their defense for him. eagles fans will be doing a lot of mental gymnastics to rationalize this one. imo they are having a pretty shitty off-season so far.

Titty Meat 03-11-2025 08:53 AM

Alot of wishful thinking in this thread

Really?

I mean...I wouldn't go that far.

Carter, Baun, Dean, Sweat and Williams all seemed more critical to me. Now that said, they lose 2 of those guys in FA and another may be limited all season next year due to injury.

I do think he was probably the most important piece in their secondary but you can also see what they're doing there - just pivoting to a secondary built around DeJean and Mitchell long-term. Similar to what we've done in losing Reid and Sneed the last two years.

But yeah - I'm surprised they couldn't get a better return.
