I don’t see that in Powell. He seems like he might be pretty good a lot of things but not exceptional at anything. I’m not as excited about him as I once was.

I wonder if you were more willing to accept Devonta Smith's lack of production in the preseason because he was a generational receiver in college drafted in the first round versus our fifth round pick who was always a work in progress.

It might just be possible that you had unwarranted excitement that we stole some guy in the 5th round who was only slightly inferior to Devona Smith.

And if you got sucked into that hype trap, it's on you, not Powell or Veach or the Chiefs.

Also Devanta Smith weighs like a buck fifty

He better hope he's fast haha

Dunerdr 08-23-2021 08:03 PM

He’s a 5th round receiver, were you disappointed demarcus Robinson didn’t ball out year one?

I'm disappointed he doesn't ball out now.

The point with bringing up Devonta smith is that Powell is not quick, slow building up to speed, looks like more of a track guy where his speed doesn’t translate to the field. I wasn’t comparing the players just asking about his skill. What is Powell’s strength? I don’t see him pushing Robinson or any of other receivers. Fountain is probably better.

Kiimo 08-23-2021 08:22 PM

We understood what you meant. And you're right, he's not fast.

Devanta is uncommonly quick and good at routes though it's just a funny comparison

kcbubb 08-23-2021 08:23 PM

I wish we had a guy trying to make the team that could push our wr group. You can see the competition on d-line. WRs look pretty comfortable on the sideline during these games. If we had a guy like this maybe the competition would be better??

Personally, I’ve never believed in Powell’s game.

To me, it’s a wasted pick.

Hope I’m wrong.

Where's BWillie to tell us he was banking on Powell being our #2 WR?

This is a very complex offense. I will give him a year or two before passing judgment. What receiver has come in here as a rookie and dominated?

Pretty much this. Probably stash him on PS for a bit.
