If they do, I’d make them pay up for Fuller too while they’re at it.

It looks like Wilson has probably already agreed to a deal.

$14 mill is just way too much for Watkins...he isn't Calvin Johnson or Julio Jones. Hill is better anyways...let some other sucker get fleeced for that contract.

If he had been drafted in the 2nd round...people wouldn't be so adamant about him.

The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reports free agent Sammy Watkins is the Bears' "top target."
Biggs reports the Bears are also interested in Allen Robinson, but the team views Watkins a safer bet since he's 100 percent healthy and not coming off a serious injury. Both receivers were linked to multiple teams on Monday, including Watkins with the Bears, Packers, Chiefs, and Jaguars. The Rams are also said to want to keep Watkins, but his market could get out of hand.

There you have it. Bears have way more cap space.

1) Those contract numbers reported by that twitter guy, mamba or whatever, are crazy. $16 million per? Maybe Watkins merits $12-14 per if you really want him but $16 per is exorbitant.

2) The Bears will overpay for someone at receiver, but even if he has yet to play a lot, convince me Trubisky is more attractive than Mahomes at this juncture. Playing with Kelce and Hill will get a lot of one on one matchups for somebody to potentially explode statistically. That has to count for something.

3) The rumbling that KC may offer sheet Fuller is intriguing, but not likely to turn out. As stated, Chicago has a lot of cash and they could match any offer. If they lose out on one of the big FA receivers, they can easily secure Fuller, who stated he would like to remain there. The brothers playing together is a nice thought, but I can’t see it happening.

4) Leave room for Suh. Wilkerson’s continued visits mean he received no offers of magnitude. The DL market may actually soften if GM’s wait it out a bit. If nobody goes crazy, experienced vets could come in reasonable and you could buffer this with a draft pick in a decently deep DL class.

Suh, Richardson, Amukamara, Pryor, Dion Jordan

...That would be my dream FA period.

We'll have "interest" in a bunch of guys, but in reality we're signing mostly scrubs.

Go figure that Nagy is targeting the same guy Reid/Veach are, let alone the Bears reported interest in Wilson hinted at by Veach at the combine.
They obviously feel Watkins can fit the scheme and be productive in it if the suggested dollar numbers are accurate.

Pace vs Veach

For that reason alone, the 3yrs/$46M rumor is even more believable... Chiefs would have to pay huge to outbid Chicago.

:hmmm:

Could be. Might not be the most prudent move by our young GM....

Jordan is HUGEly overrated, take that as you may - I mean I only live here in Atlanta.

No doubt it would be overpaid, like most FAs... but again, if it is in fact 3 years, we’ll be out of that contract by the time we need to pay Mahomes, Kareem, or Tyreek (assuming they want to).
